I think he's misrepresented by the press. Some of the things he had penned over the years were brilliantly sensitive.

Also sad - he was an icon and a legend and all those words that people apply to celebrities unworthy of those labels these days. He deserves them.

That being said - I hope you mean his music when you talk about the things he penned being brilliantly sensitive! He may have been somewhat misrepresented by the press, but no smoke without fire, you know? Man was, in many ways, a nutcase and something of a perv. But as has been proven more recently by Alice Ripley and many others, one frequently needs to be mad as a hatter to create great works of art and genius.

michael jackson as the great tortured artist? it does work -- but frankly the man scared me. because obviously i r shallow.

having said that, can't help but think the destruction of his face made it easier to believe that he is monstrous with all the charges of child molestation and stuff. >.>

his songs was so much a part of my growing up....

i think somewhere along the line, it all started to go downhill, what with the insane paparazzi stalkers and him withdrawing into his own indulgent little world... and the whole image problems and plastic surgery... so did not help. :(

Sigh. I certainly did not appreciate his drastic image change at the later stage of his career.

really have to wonder what was going through in his mind when he decided to go for all the operations.... i mean, really, he must have had insane body/image issues...

he had great songs, but seriously, i think they are all overshadowed by the scandals... rightly or wrongly, i can't say...
