Character Name: Allelujah Haptism
Series:
Gundam 00Point in canon: Right before episode 25
Character Background and Personality:
Allelujah is a soft spoken, polite young man. He has good manners, always being respectful of others and is very considerate of others on the surface level. He is a great and loyal friend, and treasures his friends and “family” greatly. He’s gentle, peaceful, and doesn’t want to harm civilians. On the other hand, he’s not a doormat or pushover. He isn’t easy to break, and if someone annoys him, he’ll probably distance himself from the situation or stand his ground. He’s rather hesitant to trust people, because of his work and just the fact he feels he can’t trust himself sometimes. He is against unnecessary killing and is saddened by how humanity has hurt each other over and over again. He can be insecure about himself, because he has depended on his other personality, Hallelujah, to get him out of a tight situation or take over when he can’t deal with a certain situation. He has a guilt complex due to his past actions and killing his brethren again. Not to mention he feels guilty about relying on Hallelujah, and feels guilty for any wrong doing Hallelujah has done. He questions if Hallelujah is actually him, or if Hallelujah is supposed to be the “real” him. He has a strong attachment to Hallelujah, feeling that Hallelujah has been the only one there for him through the worst of times. Overall, Allelujah is probably the nicest guy you’re going to meet (if you’re nice to him, that is) that has a tragic past. He also has trouble facing the truth, and sometimes puts his opinions on what is right/good onto others. He also is a bit social fail due to his background and not being properly socialized. He still can be charming, though, as he strives to be a good person.
Hallelujah on the other hand will do whatever ever it is to survive. He only cares about Allelujah's/his well being. He will do whatever it takes to keep Allelujah living on, even if it takes an emotional toll on Allelujah. Hallelujah balances Allelujah from being too much of an idealist by being the type of person who isn't afraid to say the hard/blunt truth. Hallelujah is violent and has no qualms about killing. He's easily sadistic and enjoys the pain of others. The important note is the fact Allelujah and Hallelujah are the same person. Their goals, fears, etc. intertwine with their personality. The only difference between them is their approach. Usually Hallelujah will do whatever it takes, but on the other hand, Allelujah wants to try to do what he feels is right or morally acceptable.
Allelujah can’t remember his early childhood, but what he does remember can be said to be very tragic. He was orphaned when he was young, and somehow he ended up being experimented and worked on by the Human Reform League (HRL). This project by the HRL was to create Super Soldiers for battle by using quantum brain waves technology and body/brain modifications to make elite soldiers. The experiments were not human, torturous and painful to Allelujah. The experiments eventually took a toll on him, and created another personality, Hallelujah, who is violent, sadistic, and crude. He was considered a failed subject because of this new personality, and Allelujah was sent to die.
Not all things were horrible while he was in the HRL program. One day, he heard a girl’s voice in his head. He followed the voice and eventually found a room with a girl in a glass case. The girl was named Marie Parfacy, and Allelujah’s life was changed forever. Marie had lost her five senses, and the only person she could talk to was Allelujah due to quantum brain waves. They started talking, and Marie gave Allelujah his name, saying she praised God for giving her someone to talk to so she wouldn’t be lonely. Allelujah spent his free time with her, reading books to her, and just talking to her. They were the best of friends, and they both made their time in the HRL less miserable because they had each other. Sadly, happiness can last only so long. Soon Allelujah and a group of other failed experiments decided to escape from the HRL facility, not wanting to be “discarded”. They took over a spacecraft and escaped. He wanted to take Marie with him, but he couldn’t.
Things were not looking good on the spacecraft. Oxygen and food/water supplies were running low, and the children had found themselves lost in space. They were all going to die unless they were found. Allelujah didn’t want to die, and in his fight to survive, Hallelujah emerged. Hallelujah took control and killed the other children in the spacecraft, and this event causes Allelujah a lot of future pain and guilt. Eventually Allelujah was rescued by Celestial Being, and when by the time he was 17/18, he joined Celestial Being via Veda, and by the age of 19, Celestial Being’s agenda had begun.
Once Celestial Being makes its presence known, it seems the whole world is against them. Allelujah suddenly gets a horrendous headache, and he feels someone is invading his brain. Hallelujah quickly takes over, blocking out the brain waves of Soma Peries (also know as Marie Paracy, but Allelujah does not know it at this time). Soma Peries reacts to Allelujah’s brain waves violently, losing control of her mobile suit and attacking the Orbital Pillar. Luckily Soma Peries is stopped, but a section of the pillar gets detached and starts heading towards the Earth. Allelujah regains composure of himself and starts organizing a rescue mission to help save the gravity block. He gets his fellow meisters to assist him, and he ends up saving the people in the block. Due to him not following orders, Allelujah goes into solitary confinement.
Allelujah would cross paths with Soma and Sergei again. The HRL set a mission to try and capture a Gundam. Kyrios, Allelujah’s Gundam, is targeted. Soma soon gets her brain wave problem fixed, so she no longer would have violent outbursts. Allelujah sadly became in a great deal of pain when Soma was near him, screaming like he was being tortured. Eventually Allelujah passes out, and the HRL capture Kyrios. Hallelujah is not exactly pleased when Kyrios gets captured, taking control of the situation. He ends up freeing Kyrios and then some. He engages in combat with three members of the HRL army (Sergei, Soma, and Ming). He taunts at the three soldiers, and eventually he cruelly, and slowly ends up killing Lt. Ming. Allelujah tries to stop Hallelujah, but Hallelujah tells Allelujah that he’s helping him, that he’s doing what Allelujah should do. Allelujah feels guilty about what Hallelujah do, feeling like he’s losing control, and that he’s a monster.
Eventually Allelujah proposes a plan that involves the HRL’s Super Soldier Facility to Sumeragi, saying he has another personality. He says the mission has a strong connection to his past. Veda accepts the mission, and soon Allelujah and Tieria are sent to destroy the facility. When Allelujah gets to the facility, he begins to question things. Hallelujah offers to kill the children if Allelujah cannot. Allelujah eventually destroys the facility, killing his brethren once again. He retreats, not being able to look at the facility being destroyed.
After the death of Lockon Stratos, the whole crew mourns him. Allelujah feels like he lost a friend, a brother, part of his family. Sadly the mourning cannot go on for long, because another battle soon happens. Allelujah once again crosses paths with Soma and Sergei. This time Hallelujah helps Allelujah from dealing with the conflicting brain waves of Soma. They engage in battle, but things are not looking to good at first. Allelujah doesn’t want to die, and with this drive, and they (Allelujah and Hallelujah) finally work together as one. When Allelujah and Hallelujah join forces, their skills increase dramatically. Allelujah and Hallelujah tell Soma they are going to show her what a real Super Soldier can do.They eventually get the upper hand of the situation, about to defeat Soma, when Sergei takes the blow. While this happens, Soma attack Kyrios’ cockpit, and Allelujah’s right side, takes a heavy amount of damage. His right eye, the golden one (which is a sign of Hallelujah in control) gets damaged. As Allelujah is loosing consciousness, he finally sees Soma, and realizes Soma is Marie. He asks Hallelujah if he knew, and Hallelujah says he knew the two of them were fighting Marie all along, telling him "If you had known, then you wouldn't fight anymore, you'd just die". Hallelujah tells him he’s “moving on”, and from then on, he doesn’t hear Hallelujah’s voice in his head.
Sexual Orientation: Allelujah in my opinion wouldn't take gender into too much consideration about who he loves. It's canon his ideal significant other is someone that accepts him for who he is. I feel he is more "person-sexual" to say. He's not used to receiving love and affection, so anyone that gave him love and trust, he could possibly develop strong feelings for. In S2 canon, he is shown to be involved with Marie Parfacy (Some Peries), who was pretty much his only friend besides Hallelujah as children. On the other hand, Hallelujah is bisexual, as he's composed of Allelujah's darker, raw human nature side. So I'm guessing a fuck is a fuck to him. Especially if sex is survival, he'll have sex with "anyone" (as in gender) to keep Allelujah alive and save.
