Sorry! I guess she knows the ending - I will try better to read posts more carefully.

It's been a few years since I read the manga, but I seem to remember that Loki genuinely cares about Mayura. Also, a big part of the story is how his character changes from a playboy, trickster, to someone a little more mature, which leaves the door open for a serious relationship.

When they walk away together, Loki asks her why she's following him. I think he's hoping she'll say she has some sort of romantic feelings for him. Mayura, of course, isn't mature enough to think that way (yet).

Has your friend read the entire series? I'd be happy to go back and scan it for more specific examples, but I wasn't sure if she just wanted an overall impression or not.

I'm not sure if she read the entire series, but I know that she won't mind spoilers and will be happy to receive specific examples. Thank you very much for responding! ^^

I'm not sure one can conclude that the end of the manga implies that the pairing is canon. All we know from the end of the manga is that Mayura is still visiting Loki in his detective agency. The only thing that's really hinted is that Mayura has feelings for Loki, but that's subverted by the very last page, where she just says that she likes being near him because of the ~fushigi mysteries~.

Before the end of the manga, any relationship would have been seriously unbalanced: Mayura's a human child, and Loki is a god who is several hundred years old; it's no wonder that his prior romantic relationships would have been with other gods/giants. (Though technically speaking, the manga implies that he's only been with Angrboda, since Freya's and Urd's feelings for Loki are portrayed as one-sided.)

Hmm...you have a good point there. My friend would be kinda sad to hear about his devotion to Angrboda, since it's her presence that bothers her the most about the pairing. f^^;; However, didn't Skuld (sp?) also have feelings for him? And I always thought that even though he'd been with Angrboda, he treated her just as politely as his one-sided love interests. o.o

Anyways, thanks for your response! ^^

I don't remember Skuld having feelings from him in the manga, but it's been a while since I've read the manga. I'm pretty sure that the Skuld episode in the anime wasn't in the manga, though.

Eheh, I can see how Angrboda is the biggest obstacle in the way of MayuLoki shippers... I mean, Loki did have children with her etc. I do think Loki is shown to care quite strongly for Spica once he realises who she is... that's mainly because she disappears so soon and leaves him quite distraught, though.

I think it's friendship / brother-sister only for these two. They act like best friends, but that's really as far as it goes (besdies kissing her to break a spell.)

I think she might have feelings for him, but it's extremely complicated. It's strong friendship, to me that is.
