A Few Things...

Wow, it's been so long since I've visited this community... It's been several years since the end of the manga and anime series, so I'm not surprised of the lack of activity here (although it's still a little sad to see things as quiet as they are in this fandom - can't be helped, I suppose), but anyway... I have a question pertaining to an MLR ( Read more... )

The Poster Book is being sold by Marketplace sellers on Amazon.jp. So is Volume 1 of Akuma no Tsukurikata, which should also mean that it's in Kinokuniya and the like. Volume 2 is due out in May, at the same time as the first volume of the Hakase manga.

Thanks for the heads-up, though - I had no idea Kinoshita was working on new series besides New Paradise (which... seems to have petered out?). *_*;;

Oh haha, I should have just checked Amazon using isbn or the Japanese title, huh? D'oh, way to go, me. You are my hero. :P Thank you for finding it for me because apparently I have a peanut for a brain and don't know where to look. So nice of you to reply so quickly, too!

And yeah, I was contemplating buying Akuma no Tsukurikata, and even considering scanning and translating it for everyone else (but I'm being too optimistic because I should know better - unfortunately, I'm busy and can't begin to finish a translating project, let alone anything else I have to do). I might buy it nonetheless... :O

Aww, yeah, I heard about New Paradise, too. It's a shame that it's not really going anywhere... I haven't heard about any updates, or again, I just suck at looking things up. But yeah, I'm very interested in these new projects Kinoshita Sakura has started... especially Akuma no Tsukurikata. It's got a very MLR feel to it, what with all the mystery and demonolgy, lol. :O

Anyway, thanks again! You're awesome. :D

Eheh, no worries. Amazon.jp can be surprisingly good for out-of-print stuff.

Whoa, scannin and translating it by yourself would have been immensely generous (and just... immense). Perhaps you could contact scanlation groups who have worked on things like Tactics, and see if they're interested? I don't really know how scanlation groups work, though.

I never got around to reading New Paradise, sigh. But I don't think you suck at looking things up at all - you're certainly the first person to point out these new projects! I'll definitely have to buy these when I get the chance - your summary piqued my interest.

I actually did check amazon for a few other out-of-print things in the past, only to find used copies of books. I definitely don't mind them used, but the only problem is when they don't ship out of the country. In worst case scenarios, I usually ask my brother who lives on the west coast to find me a copy (I live in an unfortunately non-asian community, so there are no asian bookstores around ;o;), or my relatives who live in Japan. Kinokuniya is awesommmmeee... :O

And yeah, I would love to commit time to awesome projects like cleaning, translating, type-setting (I used to help translate some manga for the scanlation group "I Eat Manga"), but being a college student doesn't really help. :/ But hey, who knows?

I'm glad it piqued your interest! We need more interest going on in this community! It's too quiet. D':

Oh good! I'm glad I'm not the only one who is a little saddened by the lack of activity in this fandom. I'd love to get this community going again but I have no idea how many people still really watch it or what would pique people's interest ;_; I still really love this series even though the manga and anime ended quite some time ago.

Poster book- I actually got mine through rinkya.com a couple years ago. Definitely worth it =D The posters are beautiful.

If you're really thinking about scanlating Akuma no Tsukurikata I would be happy to help. I don't know how to read Japanese but I do know how to clean images up and do typesetting (in fact I'm working on that for one of the MLR chapters now ^^).

It's hard to revive something when it's been so long since the last time it was really active. That, and MLR's fandom has never been all that big, either, so finding others who are still really involved in it is really hard, too. I know I've been inactive for the longest time, but hey, I came back. :O

Sometimes all it takes is a little bit of nostalgia to take you back. Me? I was randomly shuffling through my soundtrack collection when I came across the MLR drama CDs. It made me really interested in the series again (although how long my interest will last for this time, I'm not sure - I think it depends on if there's others who are just as interested as I am in it, too).

And yesss, I'm so excited to get the poster book! Yay! And I also have a background in working with a scanlation group, so maybe if the opportunity and time arises, I can help. I can't promise anything, unfortunately, because my time is stretched thin like scarce butter on bread. XD But we will have to seeeee. :D

Ryou looks like... a more grown-up version of kid Loki, doesn't he? ILU, Kinoshita, but all of your protagonists looks like similar. OTL

I thought that, too. I guess she loves that design too much to stray away from it, lol. Personally, I have mixed feelings about it because, while I think it's a shame that she rarely creates a new "look" for her main characters, I love the look she's sticking with, so I have no room to argue. Hahaha. 8X

I do like Loki's design, but whenever I see, say, Kantarou, my mind just goes Loki Loki Loki. It's distracting to me...! But to each their own. xD

Haha, you are right on the distracting part. I remember whenever I was reading or watching Tactics, all I could think was "Kantarou looks like Kakusei Loki..." It didn't help when, in the anime, Haruka also has the same voice actor (Takahiro Sakurai is loooove) as Kakusei Loki.
