Ragnarok Vol. 3 on the Amazon Kindle?

May 01, 2011 14:50

In a desperate attempt to hunt down the Chuang Yi translations, I hit up the series on Amazon and got this curious result.

Volume 3, but only for the Kindle? Does anyone have any information on this? Unfortunately, I don't have a Kindle; otherwise, I would buy it myself and see. If this is a legitimate continuation of the translation, then I will ( Read more... )

You can actually read Kindle format books on your computer or any of a few other mobile devices!

I feel silly for not realizing that I could do this. I'm downloading it as we speak. I'll let everyone know how it goes!

Whoa, cool! If I remember right, wasn't the original release like that, too? Back with their whole "tee-hee, learn Japanese by reading manga" stint?

I don't have either of the ADV translations with me at the moment, so I can't really compare. I don't believe that this translation of volume 3 is by ADV, though.

Well, the only reason I remembered so vividly is because it made such a negative impact on me. I eventually got into scanlating because of how appalled I was by legit books at the time... I'll have to buy this soon!

Ah, that bad, huh? At least something good came out of it, then!

But really, I'm pretty sure that this version is worse than the ADV one. :|;;;

Hey, that's pretty neat! It's just too bad it only goes up to volume three. :/ But who am I to complain? I can read Japanese after all >.>;;

My hope is that they're working on volume 4! Volume 3 was released on February 23, 2011, apparently, so it's possible that they do intend to finish the series. Which is why I'm hoping everyone will pitch in for an e-copy if possible to show our support!

Is there anyway we can track down what company is doing this? I really want to show my support. :X

Anyway, thanks so much for the heads up. If you need any help find the Chuang Yi releases in paper I have a few sites. Although most are out of stock. ~_~

My pleasure! This was too good a find to keep quiet about. The publisher is "A-Net Digital LLC", and the translation is supervised by JN Productions (not exactly sure what that entails), which seems to be a translation company in Honolulu. I'm thinking about sending them an e-mail or somesuch to show my support too! A-Net's contact page is here. Curiously, it's the only page on their site that doesn't ask for a user name and password, both of which I'm having a hard time creating for lack of a registration page. I don't know if it's just me having this problem.

I wonder how well sales for this translation is doing, though, since it's a relatively old series with a niche audience. I'm also curious as to why they didn't start with the first series, just like ADV...

Really? :O I'd love to have those sites for the Chuang Yi releases, especially if they ship to the U.S.!

Ah, yeah, I contacted about Eiwa about it, and they said that Chuang Yi hasn't been printing the Loki series anymore since it's so old. x| Apparently, they get a lot of requests for it, too, which I suppose is a good sign as far as the life of the Loki fanbase goes...?

I'm staring at the two volumes Tamarket DOES have in stock and wondering if I should get these or wait for more. What if more never come?? OTL

Thank you for the links!
