No, Sawyer and his group are in the same time line now, I'm pretty sure. We know it's at least 2004, because one of them mentioned the hatch had been destroyed by Des. I'm thinking they are in 2007, though, because the group on the beach saw the fireworks being set off at the temple.

See, that's the point - I really think Jack, Sawyer and company are still in 1977. Kate is the one who mentioned the Swan hatch after Des "blew it up" and she would and should remember his doing it as long as she is not in a reset timeline. But the imploded hatch crater looked vastly different from Incident chaos.

Plus Richard looked *extremely* shocked when he saw the fireworks...

It is hard to tell about Swan but the lack of construction equipment made me think it was a post-Desmond crater rather than just aftermath of The Incident. I think they are all in present because Cindy was at the Temple too. I think Richard was shocked that a distress call was coming from the supposedly safe haven. But then again, it's not like your reading of the scene makes any less sense!

Oh, yes, I forgot about Cindy! Good point. And I agree with that you said about Rich.

I'm pretty sure everyone is in 2007. On top of the flare, and Cindy and all the kids being there, Cyndy said that she knew Jack and co from the "first crash", meaning the 2004 one occurred and the 2007 one too.

Oh yes - right! I'd forgotten about Cindy (or more accurately, I neglected to see the implications of her presence in the temple) until you and elliotsmelliot mentioned her. *headdesk* That snippet of dialog certainly does put everyone on the Island at the same point in time. Thanks!

WAIT A MINUTE! Is there a blurred time line there in the crater? Juliet is covered with those pieces of shoring that we saw at the end of S5 - that was from the construction of the Swan, but Sawyer also dug through other debris before he got to her - including the exercise bike, which was certainly in the completed hatch. Is it like ...excavating an archeological dig? Were they digging through layers of time?

*SMOOCH* I love this! *twirls you*

It explains why the crater looks so different, it makes sense out of the beams and stuff (clearly from the drill tower) AND the exercise bike being there, and it makes sense out of Juliet's *not* being hundreds of feet down when Sawyer found her. It also allows that electromagnetic anomaly to remain a seriously major source of weirdness and strange goings-on because time is all smushed together there! Wheeee!!!!

I love smushed together time. It's sort of like smushing together your peas and your mashed potatoes before you eat them......

*smooches back*

I've never watched Lost, not a fan, but I can tell you right now what they'll end up finding out this last season.

Elvis is alive. His consciousness has a timeshare in the GEICO gecko's body.

So that's where he's been hiding! :)

{Nods sagely} He's the one that came up with the whole, "So simple, a caveman could do it," slogan. He just couldn't resist picking on the cavemen, he's still got some jealousy issues ever since one of them flirted with Priscilla all those years ago.

Unfortunately, the cavemen haven't been able to take it as a joke and they're on the hunt for Elvis, so his consciousness had to take out that timeshare with Mr. Gecko - when he's not in there, he's in Wishbone. In the meantime, Elvis' body has been shrunk, put into suspended animation, and is being stored in a mayonaise jar buried under Funk and Wagonal's back porch. Until the cavemen aren't hunting him anymore.

Which may take a while, because they've not forgiven him for his role in Gigli being made...

just saying that the phrase "smushed-up-time" is perfect.

and yes, crushing on LOST is always a good thing. *nods sagely* at least to me. for I have a major crush on it.
