Floors, ugh. I am really tired of thinking about floors and what to do to make them really nice. I want to go back to just walking on them! First it was the bedrooms (we refinished the hardwood floors) and then the upstairs hall, (pulled up the runner, refinished, put runner back), the stairs (refinished), and we had planned to have an installer ( Read more... )

Gorgeous! I love your built-ins.

Also, I really want to paint the interior of one of my closets... so the orange closet kind of amused me. :)

Thanks! We did those ages ago - I've always loved built in bookcases and such. Orange closet *was* amusing - mostly in coming up with reasons that had made them decide to paint it orange in the first place.

Beautiful work, dear friend!
Excellent craftsmanship-
Still living in the only house we've ever owned, I wonder, will it be difficult for you to leave here at all after putting so much blood, sweat and tears into remodeling?

*tight hugs*

I love the built in bookshelves as well!

Thanks so much! I keep looking at it and smiling, thinking that it feels like such a nice room now, when it was always the forgotten room - almost shunned - before because it never felt good. We moved from our apartment into this house when we'd been married just over a year so selling it is truly a big, scary proposition! I know *nothing* of selling houses! Heck, my dad just two years ago sold the house I grew up in - moving is a HUGE thing to me.

But no, it really won't be difficult to leave, even after all this. For one thing, all the work we're doing reminds us that the walls are neither straight nor plumb, and that the former owners liked to take short cuts - lots of frustration. We've been known to mumble I hate this house while doing the fix up stuff, lol. The hard thing is the wondering why we didn't do some of this stuff ages ago.

I love built ins too!

Thanks! I just hope somebody wants it!

It was funny, at work last week, I was talking to a woman who wants her child to go to my school - she really wants to move into the neighborhood and was lamenting the fact that there aren't any houses for sale. I told her there would be in a month or so, all the time thinking, buy mine, buy mine!
