Bill after a few drinks, lots of cursing and threatening a few familiar faces had done something nice for Nancy. Him doing it himself wasn't a certainty but there was something of a meal waiting for her and he had a bunch of flowers. Stolen flowers. They looked suspiciously like someone had got a bunch of wedding flowers and another of funeral flowers and tied them together. It looked like that because it was. He'd get points for effort and she might be in a better mood with him.
Nancy walked into the room with a small smile. She had on her normal dress. Her hair was up, with a few strands falling around her face. Mostly, she looked like nothing had changed.
As she approached Bill, her eyes widened and her smile grew. Yes, he'd earned points and more.
Bill held the flowers out to her, more appropriately it was more a shove them out towards her he was a little awkward in his behaviour. "Yours." He muttered. "Food too." He attempted a smile that didn't make him look like he was about to attack or one that turned into a leer. He was not that successful, it was a toned down leer. Again a start.
"Don' 'ave to go out toni'te." Heaven help anyone who found out about this.
She smiled. Well, she wouldn't tell anyone about this. Truth was, nobody would believe her. She sat down at the table, looking up at him. She didn't mind the leer. She liked it on him.
