Title: Letters to Cheesus (1/1)
Rating: PG-13
Spoilers: Mentions of s2ep3, but idk if that counts as a spoiler anymore ~but just incase~, and also a slight spoiler for the movie The Notebook.
Warnings: fluff, immature Blaine, and a badly drawn picture of one of Blaine's journal entries (Don't look 'til the end! It's a surrrpriise!)
Word Count: 4,244
Summary: Blaine acts like an enthusiastic 5 year old when he believes that Cheesus is reading his journal and making his wishes come true right before Valentine's Day. David thinks Blaine is insane.
Disclaimer: I do not own anything Glee related and do not wish to be sued.
A/N: I was listening to the song "Letters to God" by Boxcar Racer, and then my Klaine-centric mind jumped to Blaine acting like an enthusiastic 5 year old and writing letters to Cheesus. Go figure.
ALSO: This is just meant to be silly, and not meant to offend anyone's religion or anything of that nature. I don't think I did, but if so, I'm terribly sorry, it wasn't my intention in the slightest. I just wanted to use Cheesus for the sake of Klaine, since I haven't read one about that before.
----
It's the fourth of February and Kurt and Blaine are comfortably settled in the library at Dalton. Quietly studying his history notes, Blaine can't help but look over at Kurt.
Mumbling phrases to himself, Kurt is having trouble memorizing his French vocabulary terms.
"Cheesus! I am not going to have all these memorized by tomorrow morning! Ugh. This is awful."
Blaine eyebrows Kurt, smiling a little curiously. "What did you just say? Cheesus? Was that what you said?"
He laughs, but still wants to hear an explanation from Kurt who is now blushing.
"What? Did I really just say that in front of you? I'm sorry," Kurt laughs a little and shakes his head, "In glee club, well, there was the week my dad was in the hospital," Kurt pauses to see Blaine nod knowingly and then continues, "And it's something that Finn came up with. Don't ask..."
Blaine nods a little, deciding it's better to just shrug off the comment. But of course, Kurt said the phrase in glee club as in New Directions and not Warblers. Blaine feels slightly bothered by this, not liking that Kurt still feels like he's more apart of McKinley than Dalton.
"Oh. Huh. You did say he was an interesting character..." Blaine smiles warmly, but still can't get his mind off the term Cheesus.
"So, is Cheesus supposed to be a nickname for a certain well-known dude, or..."
Kurt closes his French book and shrugs, "I don't know. It caught on. Finn made a grilled cheese sandwich and then made the glee club sing religious songs for a week. But hey, if I had to believe in a superior being, you can bet your life I'd be praying to Cheesus. He did wonders for Finn, apparently."
Blaine looks curiously at Kurt who is now packing up his books and putting them in his bag. "But anyway, I'll see you at practice tomorrow?" Kurt smiles hopefully at Blaine, but Blaine just takes this as Kurt smiling politely and nothing more.
"Yes! Indeed you will, sir." Blaine smiles and watches Kurt leave through the library doors.
'Cheesus...'
---
It isn't until Blaine's about to go to sleep that he starts re-thinking about the conversation he had earlier with Kurt in the library.
'Why is he so caught up on his old glee club still? I mean, not that he should forget about his friends, but I want him to be thinking about me more. Is that so hard to ask for, Cheesus?'
Blaine's eyes widen as he's sitting up in his bed contemplating.
Did he just talk to Cheesus?
Kurt did say that Finn had good luck with the name.
And Finn sounds like a rather clumsy, unlucky guy, Blaine thinks.
Maybe he can give it a shot, too.
As the thought passes through Blaine's head, he leans over his bed to pull out an unused journal from his night-stand that was meant to be his dream journal he never started.
Dear Cheesus, Blaine begins, feeling pretty foolish, but soon he realizes that having someone else hear his problems really might help him solve his Kurt problem.
I don't really know how this works or anything, but I'd love it if tomorrow morning Kurt says yes to going out to breakfast with me. It'll be one step closer to getting to ask him out. I'm just really nervous he'll say no, so if you could help me out, that'd be totally awesome.
Sincerely Love, Blaine
Blaine re-reads his entry, makes sure his hand-writing looks neat, and slides the journal back into his night-stand.
----
'Well, it's now or never,' Blaine thinks the next morning, purposely having picked a Saturday for this in order to have as much time to spend with Kurt as possible.
Kurt is standing outside his dorm room with David, and Blaine hears them talking about songs the Warblers should do for Regionals.
'Well, at least he's planning on staying...'
Blaine heads over to them and smiles politely at both, but obviously something is on his mind. "Hey, fellas, what's going on?"
Kurt stands up a bit straighter, smiles, and glances at David before glancing back at Blaine, "We're just talking about Warbler business. And yourself?"
Blaine gives David a look, and after Blaine finishes saying his morning is going just fine, David excuses himself from the conversation, saying he has to tutor someone for Spanish. Kurt looks curiously at Blaine, but just leans against the door slightly and asks Blaine what he's doing for the day.
"Actually," Blaine starts, clasping his hands together, rubbing his thumbs together as one of his only noticeable nervous habits, "I was wondering if you wanted to go out to breakfast."
Kurt seems to be caught off guard, raising his eyebrows slightly, but smiles and nods a little. "Yeah, of course. Right now?"
Blaine nods, "Yeah, I mean, if you're ready. We can wait if you're not." He hopes Kurt can't read his mind.
"No, no, I'm ready. Just uh, let me get my wallet!"
"No, hey, it's okay... It was my idea. Let me pay." Blaine smiles, realizing he stopped breathing as soon as he introduced the idea.
"Oh, well, are you sure? You really don't have to, Blaine," Kurt says, sounding more friendly than flirtatious, skillfully leaving out any trace of his real emotions for Blaine to detect.
Blaine shrugs, already forgetting to notice if Kurt is actually interested in Blaine and not just breakfast itself, since he is now just focused on the 'Yeah, of course.'
----
After breakfast,
Dear Cheesus,
THANK YOU!! I knew you'd be awesome.
Kurt totally loved breakfast, by the way. I even had a dream that I ordered french toast, and so I figured it was from you, so I did get it, and Kurt smiled when I did. :P Thanks, Cheesus.
Okay, and! As I said in my last entry, I really just want Kurt to have a good support system. I want to help him, and in helping him, I'm helping me. Soo, I was wondering if you could make it possible for Kurt to want to watch Dream Girls with me tomorrow night. It's one of my favorites, and he apparently hasn't seen it, so I want him to watch it with me, and I hope he likes it, too, because then that means we're totally right for each other.
Loveyousomuch!
xoxo Blaine
----
Blaine decides that when Sunday afternoon comes he must put his wishing to the test.
He finds Kurt at the cafeteria with David, eating lunch by the windows.
'David AGAIN? Why is he never alone? Uuugghhh.'
Blaine smiles when he sees Kurt look over at him, and so he sits down in a chair opposite of Kurt and David who are sitting next to each other against the window side. "Hey, guys," Blaine says innocently, throwing a death glare at David after Kurt says hi and leans down to pick up his dropped eating utensil.
David gives Blaine a 'Really? You're going to act like this?' face, and Blaine just nods quickly before smiling back at Kurt, thinking it's cute that his bottom lip is sticking out. "Aww, I dropped my fork."
"Aw, really? Do you want a new one?" Blaine glances over at David quickly before looking at Kurt.
Kurt shrugs, looking over at the condiments and utensil area that is all the way across the cafeteria. "Eh, yeah, I'll be right back," Kurt starts.
"No, hey..." David smiles and shrugs, looking as friendly as possible, which isn't hard, because he is a friendly guy, but, "What are friends for? I'll go get it. I need a napkin anyway."
"But you're not eating anything," Kurt says confusedly.
David looks at Blaine and smiles almost too pleasantly, "Yeah, but I'm probably going to need one soon. Just to be prepared, you know?"
Blaine smiles and nods, trying not to laugh, since he's realizing how annoying he must be acting to David. "Good thinking, friend."
David nods and gets up, leaving the two sophomore boys alone.
"So, Kurt... You know how you said you've never seen Dream Girls?"
Kurt groans and throws his head back in slight frustration, "No! And Mercedes keeps nagging at me to watch it. It's like her favorite film nowadays, and I never got the chance to see it in theaters. Why?"
Blaine smiles lightly, shrugging as he does and replies, "Well, I just bought it the other day, and I was wondering if you wanted to come over to my room tonight and watch it maybe? After dinner?"
Kurt's eyes light up a little, "Yeah! That'd be great!"
It doesn't take Kurt much longer to realize what this might mean, so without wanting to, he blushes, "So um, what time?"
Blaine smiles, already thinking about a few hours from now, "Seven?"
----
CHEESUS. YOUWON'TBELIEVE! Kurt fell asleep during the movie and he put his head ON MY SHOULDER! I just about died, Cheesus. I had a feeling you were close by, maybe helping things along a bit? ;) Thanks for that.
Anyway, so now that I know you're in this with me, I was wondering if maybe we should go for present giving? It's almost Valentine's Day, and by the 14th I really want Kurt to be MY valentine. So, I need to get him something soon. If you could give me a sign on what to get him so he'll accept me as more than a friend--but I want to stay nonchalant right now--then that'd be the coolest!
xoxoxo Blaine!
---
It's February 9th, and Blaine has made David drive him out to the mall about forty minutes away from Dalton in order to find something special for Kurt before Valentine's Day.
They go look in Macy's department store first, but as soon as they walk in, Blaine has literally no idea where to start looking.
Blaine turns to David, trying not to sound too worried, "Hey, uh, David, has Kurt ever mentioned what his favorite color is or anything?"
David stops walking and turns to Blaine, "Blaine, do you honestly want me to tell you what I think about this entire thing?"
Blaine smiles at David, about to nod, but then, "Ohhh! Wait, hold that thought."
Blaine walks over to the watches in the jewelry department, and picks up the most expensive-looking one. David follows and eyebrows Blaine, "Do you really think Kurt will want to wear a watch that you picked out? You're not exactly that fashion-forward, no offense."
Blaine smiles at the watch, and then looks over at David and jokingly says, "But he's always asking me what time it is. I could get this for him, and then next time he asks me what time it is, which will be like tomorrow, I could then pull this out and say, 'It's time to love me!'"
"Isn't that what cellphones are now for?" David questions, still in annoyance with Blaine's giddiness.
"Oh, do you think I should get him another one then?"
"ANOTHER one, Blaine? Be serious. You're acting really different lately, I'm kind of confused. Are you on drugs?"
Blaine smiles and shakes his head, "Kurt's the only drug I need..." He puts down the watch and spins around once to continue singing "Hey, Soul Sister," for a minute, before he accidentally bumps into a rack of earrings and other accessories.
"Whoops," Blaine snickers, leaning down to pick up luckily the only thing that fell on the ground.
In Blaine's hand is now a thin, silver musical eighth-note brooch with a small heart on the top of the flag. Blaine stares hard at the small piece of metal.
'It was the only thing that fell.'
Blaine glances up at the ceiling, silently thanking someone and then looks back at David. "Come on, I'm ready to go."
Back at Dalton, Blaine hurries off to his room to wrap the small gift.
'I'll give it to him tomorrow morning so we can both hopefully have a great Thursday.'
Forgetting to buy wrapping paper when him and David were out and about, Blaine decides to use his sheet music from "Teenage Dream," since it was the first song Blaine ever sang to Kurt without him knowing.
----
Blaine waits in the hallway near the first hour English classroom that Kurt and Blaine have together, waiting anxiously to get the text from David to let him know that Kurt is approximately one minute away from walking down the same hallway:
He likes you already, and you didn't need to get him anything.
This is taking me a long time to type,
so you have about fifteen seconds.
Blaine quickly shuts his phone and slides it in his pants pocket as he walks slowly down the hall, making sure to not reach the classroom before Kurt sees him.
"Blaine! Hey!" Kurt calls happily as he walks quickly over to Blaine.
Blaine turns around and smiles, 'Oh, Cheesus, kill me now,'
"Hey!"
Kurt smiles and keeps walking even though Blaine stays standing by the wall.
He turns around and looks at Blaine, blushing slightly, "Oh, sorry, I thought you were walking to class."
Blaine, feeling the wrapped brooch in his pocket, bites his lip slightly and laughs, "Oh, uh, yeah. Sorry, I'm a little out of it this morning." He goes to follow Kurt into their class.
'Come on, Blaine, stop being a coward.'
Blaine spends the entire hour secretly glancing over at Kurt as often as he can, feeling disappointed in himself for not giving him the present before class.
When the teacher dismisses the boys, however, Blaine is determined to reach out to Kurt.
As usual, the two boys walk out of their class together, but before they separate for second hour, Blaine asks Kurt to talk with him against the wall for a few minutes.
"So, um, David and I went shopping yesterday, since he wanted to get a new watch, and I just came along to help him pick a nice one out," Blaine smiles, trying to act calm and smooth, "And well, I was looking at the watches, but then I saw this..."
Blaine takes the wrapped brooch out of his pocket and hands it to Kurt. Kurt's face goes into complete surprise as he opens up the present, stumbling with his words out of sudden excitement,
"Wha-wha-what? Oh my god! Blaine! What is this for? It's beautiful! But wait, was it for me? Did I accidentally just open up someone's present?" Kurt's eyes widen with the possibly horrible realization.
Blaine puts a hand on Kurt's arm to make him understand it is for him, "No! It's for you. I got it for you, because I thought it was just something you'd like." He laughs slightly, "Um, yeah. I just wanted to thank you for sticking with the Warblers."
Kurt smiles at Blaine with a look that Blaine thinks might be something special, but his brain short-circuits once Kurt's pressing his body up against Blaine's, giving him the biggest hug ever. "Thank you so much, Blaine. It's the nicest thing anyone's ever done for me, really."
Though he says this genuinely, Blaine knows Kurt is just exaggerating. In Blaine's mind, anyone who ever met the kid would willingly try to make Kurt the happiest boy alive, but it's still extremely nice to hear Kurt say he likes the brooch. Once Kurt releases Blaine from the hug, he smiles and pins the brooch to his jacket. "I'm going to wear it right now," he says proudly.
Blaine beams.
----
Later that day, Kurt and Blaine are in the library doing homework, and Blaine's energy is still at an all time high. Though, he keeps his success!feelings to a minimum, it does leave him being noticeably distracted.
Blaine is feeling antsy, so he tells Kurt he's going to go down to the cafeteria and get them snacks for while they do their homework. Kurt nods and bites his lip lightly as he watches Blaine leave the space. 'He's so...'
He sighs and places his elbow on the table, not wanting to do his homework anymore. He wants to just sit here all day with Blaine and talk and not bother with unnecessary education, Kurt thinks.
But then he sees a receipt from Macy's sticking out of one of Blaine's notebooks.
'It can't be from the other day, can it?'
Kurt doesn't like the idea of snooping around Blaine's things, but he's too nosy to not know the price of his new favorite gift.
He opens the notebook and sees it was the only thing Blaine bought from the store.
'$24.99!? What! Why would he spend that much on me?'
However, before he puts the receipt safely back in its place, he can't help but recognize a certain word on the page below the receipt that he knows Blaine didn't come up with on his own. The date of the entry is from today.

CHEEEEEESSUUUUS!
It's your buddy Blaine here. Thought I'd tell you that Kurt TOTALLY LOVED that brooch. He even gave me a hug! I want to kiss him so badly...... this is our next mission. I'm going to ask him tonight to watch The Notebook I think. I only cried the first time I saw it, so I'm hoping he'll cry, because I know he hasn't seen it. I purposely mentioned "favorite romance movies" the other day and he didn't mention seeing it, so I'm thinking he didn't, because anyone that has would obviously have said they loved The Notebook, right?
So anyway, that's what's going down. If you can help me, I don't know if you can, but it'd be cool if Kurt kisses me during the part where Rachel McAdams is reading the letter from Ryan Gosling in her car and cries towards the end, you know? It's so beautiful. He's really beautiful. and I mean Kurt. (But Ryan Gosling is also.) so it works out. right? K, bye Cheesus. ttyl.
-your blaine
"WHAT!?!?!??!"
Kurt gives the journal a deranged look, re-reading over the entry to make sure this is what he's actually reading. "He can't be serious...." Kurt whispers under his breath. He quickly shuts the journal and pretends to be doing his homework when Blaine comes back.
Blaine lays down a packet of Valentine's Day M&M's for Kurt, grinning as he does. "Do you like these?" At this, Kurt tries to stop himself from laughing. 'Should I really try to make a move on him tonight? No, wait! Better idea!'
Kurt nods and opens the packet of M&M's. "Hey, you know what reminds me of M&M's?"
Blaine smiles and looks at him, "No, what?"
Slowly, Kurt pops one in his mouth and looks like he's holding a very interesting thought, "Romance films."
Blaine's eyes widen, he can't believe what he is conveniently hearing, "Wait, really?" He sits back down in his seat and stares blankly at Kurt.
Kurt tries to hide his smirk when Blaine mentions that they should watch The Notebook tonight. Kurt can only agree wholeheartedly that they should.
----
Kurt's heart is beating extremely fast throughout the entire movie, knowing that when the time comes for the actress to cry in her car over a letter, Kurt will have to lean over and kiss Blaine to play along with Blaine's dumb journal entry.
But suddenly there is a slight change in Kurt's clever plan.
"Hey, Kurt?" Blaine asks softly, almost like he just woke up from a nap, "Are you watching the movie?"
Kurt looks over at the boy sitting next to him, both of them sitting against Blaine's pillows. "Um, yes, why would I not be?"
'What's he doing?! It isn't even at the right part yet! Ohgodohgodohgod.'
Blaine shifts a little to look at Kurt better, "Well," he starts, feeling evil, evil butterflies fill his stomach, "I kind of wanted to, um," he pauses,
"Hey, Kurt, I really like you, and I respect you, and I just... Can I kiss you?"
He doesn't dare make any sudden movement until Kurt says or does something. Sure, he was supposed to wait and see if Kurt would make the first move, but no, Blaine thought, he needed to do this now.
Kurt stares at Blaine for a few moments before nodding. He would smile, hell if he was able to, or even say something sweet in return, but somehow the actual planning to kiss Blaine was much less terrifying then what's actually happening right this second. Blaine smiles lightly, leaning into kiss him, and Kurt swears that seeing Blaine nervous over kissing him is the single best sight in the entire world.
He immediately melts as soon as Blaine's lips press against his. Kurt's lips are a lot softer in comparison to Blaine's, but that makes it all the more exciting for both of them.
Any previous thoughts or worries are completely disregarded. If phones were ringing, people were screaming, or a car crashed through the room, neither Blaine or Kurt would think to stop kissing.
Even though they both knew that finally kissing each other would be totally awesome, they didn't expect it to be this.
Blaine gently pulls back to look at Kurt. "Whoa."
Kurt blushes and laughs slightly, "Is that good or bad?" He bites his lip and smiles a little awkwardly when Blaine tells him it was "most definitely good," and then leans his head in the crook of Blaine's neck in hopes of never having to leave his current position.
Blaine smiles to himself and strokes Kurt's hair, loving the feeling of Kurt's uneven breath on his neck. His heart is still beating extremely fast, and Kurt's not sure if being this close to Blaine will help any, but he finally gets to be this close to him, and there's no chance in hell he's wrecking the moment.
"Hey, Kurt, will you be my Valentine?" Blaine asks sweetly, with a little more confidence than when he had asked to kiss him.
"Do you even have to ask?" This time Kurt does lift his head from Blaine's shoulder and looks at him directly. "I thought I already was?"
He smirks, "You did say that 'every February you'll be my Valentine,' so like, I already knew, Blaine. Duh."
Blaine raises his eyebrows and matches Kurt's smirk, "Oh, well, that's just swell then. I totally did mean it, so I'm glad you understood even then."
Kurt rolls his eyes, "Was this your master plan? To woo me all week just so you could get some action before Valentine's Day? ...And here I thought you were classy, Mr. Anderson..."
Blaine grins and blushes a little, "Well, I did have some help."
Kurt gasps, "Is that why David kept leaving whenever you came around? He knows?"
Blaine laughs and pecks him on the lips quickly, "It's all okay. Just try not to think about how insane I've been this week."
"Yeah, no... I don't think I want to forget this." Kurt smiles softly, but silently smirks to himself, now thinking of how he wants to get back at Blaine for thanking Cheesus for why things have been going the way he wanted them to.
----
The next morning, before Blaine gets ready for class, he takes out his journal in order to thank a very certain someone.
2/11/11
We did good. xo -you know who-
But before he happily closes his notebook, he notices that there's an entry a few pages back that is written in red ink.
And Blaine only uses his red pen to mark problems wrong in math.
Never to write in.
Ever.
Especially in his journal.
Never.
Blaine looks down at his journal in horror, realizing the hand-writing down on the page is definitely not his own.
'Kurt must have taken it out when I went downstairs to get Cokes... Oh, Cheesus, no...'
2/10/11
Dear Glorious Cheesus,
I understand Blaine has been writing to you about me for more than a good week now, and I'd really like it if he stops freaking me out by doing so. I can see you've helped him overcome his irrational fear of me rejecting him, but I'd like him to do things on his own for now on if you don't mind.
But to continue in spirit, with one last request, I'd really, highly appreciate it if tomorrow when I ask Blaine to practice the song "I'm Yours, I've Always Been Yours, and You're Really Weird and Dumb for Thinking I Wouldn't Want to Kiss You, In Fact, Blaine, If I'm Really Being Honest, I Want to Do Everything With You Before This Year Is Over," I'd love it if he kisses me and lets me see his hair curly on Valentine's Day.
Your Secret Admirer,
Porcelain
And that documents the events of Kurt and Blaine right before their very first Valentine's Day together.
2/14/11
Hey, Chez, Kurt told me the other day to stop writing to you, because he thinks it'll prevent me from making my own decisions in the future and also he just says it's annoying, etc, so I just wanted to write this entry as a goodbye.
And in case your feelings are hurt, I just wanted to let you know that even though I asked Kurt to be my Valentine, you're still right up there on being the most awesome ever.
Love for always and forever,
Blaine
P.S.
Happy Valentine's Day.

Thanks for reading! Hopefully it was as cheesy (no pun intended) as it was meant to be. I have to admit, PG-13 isn't really my favorite thing, but dorky!childish!Blaine is one of my favorite characters, so I thought I'd give it a shot. hah
Comments/feedback/criticism are loved. :)
