Yup... and while Star Wars has some surface "Space Western" influences - at its core, it's a swords-and-sorcery fantasy story in technological trappings. I mean, how obvious do they need to make it? Lightsabers for swords, "The Force" for magic and Obi-Wan Kenobi instead of Merlin, or whatever wizard you like. I admit it took a while to realize that the reason I don't like it is that Star Wars isn't really Science Fiction, the way a "Bat Durston" story isn't really Science Fiction.

True, although in fairness to Lucas, he has always called it a "space fantasy".

That fact seems to have flown past a great many fans too fast for them to catch....

Sounds like an interesting pub ... perhaps a place for Wizards Only - where they don't have to worry about letting something slip to the uninitiated - or for that matter worry about keeping the yokels impressed? :)
