It's 91 degrees out, 52% humidity, and it's raining. Okay, it's more like a fiercely determined sprinkle, but it's nice, and I'm enjoying it. That, and the 17 degree difference between today's high temperature and yesterday's scorcher

Yup... and while Star Wars has some surface "Space Western" influences - at its core, it's a swords-and-sorcery fantasy story in technological trappings. I mean, how obvious do they need to make it? Lightsabers for swords, "The Force" for magic and Obi-Wan Kenobi instead of Merlin, or whatever wizard you like. I admit it took a while to realize that the reason I don't like it is that Star Wars isn't really Science Fiction, the way a "Bat Durston" story isn't really Science Fiction.

True, although in fairness to Lucas, he has always called it a "space fantasy".

That fact seems to have flown past a great many fans too fast for them to catch....

Sounds like an interesting pub ... perhaps a place for Wizards Only - where they don't have to worry about letting something slip to the uninitiated - or for that matter worry about keeping the yokels impressed? :)
