I think people in general, whether stalkers or not, are good at justifying a lot of things to themselves. Some of this is purely down to decisions between what we want and what we need. Others are about burying our heads in the sandwich.
Naturally, my stalker had to weigh in, demanding that I get mental help, apparently forgetting I'm already being treated for depression. Not that he isn't like the stereotypical parent who cannot be pleased: I could save his life, win an Oscar, a Nobel prize and a Pulitzer all in the same day, and he'd still have nothing good to say about me.
However, the day he lets me sit in on one of his sessions with his psychiatrist is the day I'll consider that he might finally have learned enough about mental health issues to advise a person. Otherwise, he's still worried about the mote in my eye while ignoring the tree trunk in his.
If he was, it wasn't for clinical depression. Otherwise, he'd still have depression. And if he still had depression, he wouldn't be quite so stupid about mine.
