Seething

My mother and I just got into a heated exchange. I am refusing to go to a self help clinic called "Landmark Forum" because I still believe in personal responsibility. My mother informed me that I am one of the most screwed up people she knows. I said "bullshit, mom! I get good grades, I don't do drugs, I drink moderately, I've not gotten a girl ( Read more... )

Hi. I read your journal, not sure if you read mine.

My dad wants me to do the same thing. If you ever need arguments against it, let me know.

Hey there! I don't read your journal because I really had no idea that you read mine. You can't find it at all exciting or enlighting, I'm not intresting at all. But now, we can be friends. But my question is, how did you discover my journal? I see we have a mutal friend in Jack, so I'm guessing that's how it happened.

As to the Landmark thing, I don't know if it'd be good for me or if it would be bad. I just don't like being told what to do. Oh well, we'll see how it works out. But thank you for the offer for arguements against it. I might take you up on that in the future.

My belief on any sort of self help or therapy or whatever is that it won't be helpful or effective unless you are open and willing to doing it and being changed. /specifically, Landmark is three days of being cut out of the world in order to change. It can be very powerful, but you have to want it. If you like what you're doing now and won't be open to it, I wouldn't waste your time. Seriously.

I don't remember how I found your journal, but your theory sounds plausible. I think I found Jack's journal from a friend of mine at school. (I know, I sound like some creepy stalker- I swear, it's not like that at all!)

hey man, no worries. if you feel that you are that bad of a son then maybe it will make them feel better if you went? i understand that it might be annoying but it's kind of like a self help and a help to your parents so they know that you can be responsible enough to respect your parents. you are a good kid dude, we just all screw up sometimes. they still love you.

Hey Dan, thanks. I miss you man, miss reading your updates and hearing about what's going on in your life. Uh, yea, I know that kinda sounds a little homo-erotic, but eh, won't phase you a bit. And that's why your AWESOME. (mind you, for many other reasons you are also awesome)

*Hugs* I pray for you my friend, Henry. That you find the inner strength you seek to grow and develop in the ways you want, and the outer strength to be able to implement those changes in the face of adversity and personal challenges. My best to you. I look forward to seeing you saturday :)

While the Landmark Forum may be useful for some people in some ways. There's controversy on it's long term effects. You may want to research it a bit more. There's information at

http://skepdic.com/landmark.html
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Landmark_Education
http://www.rickross.com/groups/landmark.html

I don't recommend doing it if you don't want to, feel pressured or guilty.

Good luck.
