Hentai Brau Developments... The Future of the Hentai.

Mar 24, 2009 00:01

As of now, I have no way to access Homestead.  This means I can't update and/or design the Hentai Brau website.  The reason for this is Homestead was not designed for modern computers, and I just got upgraded to a new a computer.  The same thing happened to Doug awhile back when he got his.  My old computer is now downstairs as a server for a ( Read more... )

Well, I don' think we'd have to do double labels. J and Patty do their own labels. I'm sure others can. I think people are underestimating my laziness and assuming I/us want to do way more work than is necessary. Believe me, not really. I was thinking of this as more of a "webring" -- like minded people getting together, sharing ideas and stuff. More like an LJ community and less like a multi-conglomerate corporation. Wasn't really thinking of it as the Voidland group doing everyone else's work ( ... )

Google my name. You get my linkedin...a few odd articles and papers I've written...and the fact I'm a member of the Zen Community of Oak Park.

That's really all I ever want to see attached to my name. It's unusual. Even my maiden name doesn't come up with much for hits. So I can see where Scott is coming from because his last name...also not very common.

Google "Fuzzyscribble" and you'll get more hits..but then again some people actually CALL ME Fuzzy outside of the Internet...which is ok.

Though I'm not a squirrel in real life...

*eats a nut*

Or am I?

Scuse me...I must go off and ponder my position on the food chain...

well, I'm pretty sure that no one is going to confuse our homebrew group with Hofbrauhaus.

As for the $$ thing, Greg puts in most of the work when it comes to brewing/bottling and has never considered turning this into a money maker.

Anyway, why go to the trouble of making this group name if we're going to keep everything else exactly the same? If people are then interested in us they're going to go to the website and still see the Hentai Brau name anyway. And we're still going to be anime based.

I also think you're over estimating the amount of outside activity going on. Jay and Patty are really the only ones producing. Dead Tree was Greg wanting to brew when no one else did.

As far as I'm concerned the cards should just have the website and possibly an email address. I'd probably say something like, a picture of the eye and then "HB - anime loving homebrewers since 2005" or whatever.

I'm still partial to "Voidland Brewing Company."

You could always do "H-Brau" and make people wonder.

Bruids is too close to Bruins for my taste. Don't wanna be "Bear Beer."

But then again...I don't go to the St. Paddy's Day bar crawls...and because of work...might not be able to go to Dark Lord day for the third day in a row...so my ballot is only absentee. I've never been overly interested in having a website...or name...or labels.

But I like beer and hanging out with friends. The more complicated you wanna make it...the more work you're going to be doing. ;-) Ya know?

Voidland Brewing is not outside the realm of possibilities. Though I admit I like the idea for a spiral logo better than I do the name.

I think the whole call it "HB" (ordinary) or "H-Brau" (yours) sounds good on paper. But really, at what event EVER has the group gone and not admitted it stands for Hentai? Even after we agreed we weren't going to play it up? I really don't see the point if we all can't keep quiet about it. But it could be tried.

Having never watched a full hockey game on TV in my LIFE, I have to admit, the Bruins were the LAST THING I thought of.

As for complicated? I don't know. I think people are assuming this is way more complex than it is. Maybe I should draw it on paper. It's really more of a webring idea. It didn't strike me as insanely complex. But maybe I'm not explaining myself properly. *shrugs*

Hockey to violent for ya? ;-)

Maybe I just grew up with..."Blackhawks vs. (Insert Team Here)" all my life...advertised on radio and television.

Like I said...I'm not invested in any of this...so long as it doesn't turn relaxing brewing parties where Greg breaks stuff and we spill beer everywhere turn into some sort of weird club where we have secret handshakes and wear magic underpants.

;-)

How about..."The Church of Jesus H. Fricken Christ and Latter Day Sinners"?

I like secret handshakes and magic underpants! At least as much as I like spilling beer...

I vaguely prefer using the LJ name. It's somewhat of an internet alias. Although I'm in the same situation as Holly and Rob-- our names are common enough that plenty of other people using our real names on the internet.

Despite the fact you're looking at this from a purely Western POV, I understand where you're coming from.

1a) So are you now changing your status on taking this further? Just looking for some claification. Our website would likely need extra funding if you wanted to take the kinds of steps you're talking about. Though if people were actually interested in it, I do think that's do-able. I (just throwing ideas out here, to see if people would be interested) would suggest regular tastings, with only a beer or two each, where we could rate and discuss and then post the results.

1b) Speaking of funding, I'm probably going to pick up a flash drive to store and more easily transfer infomations

1c) Actually I'm saving this for a different comment, because it's less a response to you and more just my thoughts about what's going on here.

2) (edit: I just reread what I said here, and realize it sounded harsh when I didn't mean it that way at all) The problem is we still have members who do NOT want to use their real names, whether it's ( ... )

Let's face it, it's coming down to changing the name of the group, we can't get around it. If people don't want their name associated with Hentai Brau then we can't leave the name because people WILL see it on the site and on labels. And it will then mean we need to "fix" the old labels. If that's what people want that's okay, but we have to recognize that's what it's coming down to here ( ... )

Yeah, let's just do that.

Cause I gotta be honest, now I'm getting confused with all the text and replies.

I think face to face we can all come up with something. *thumbs up*
