[Fic] Naruto
It's basically trash right now, but I plan on expanding eventually... basically, I've been thinking that Naruto could have in NO way survived as an infant unless someone took him in.
However, most people hate him far too much to even consider it.
“What do we do with him?” Someone asked bitterly, looking down at the tired baby boy that Sandaime was holding in his arms.
“For the time being, the first few years of his life, we need someone to take care of him.” Sandaime looked pointedly at the heads of the clan that were gathered around him.
“Why would anyone want to take care of that demon?” A woman asked, quickly silenced by the look the Hokage gave her.
“If he dies, so soon after the seal is set, it’s possible that the Kyuubi may escape.”
He didn’t have to say anymore.
“Uchiha-sama, thank you for taking him.”
“It’s only for a while.” The head of the Uchiha clan reminded the Hokage. “Our second son was born just a few months ago and he’s old enough where we can care for them both easily. We’re not going to keep Naruto for more then a couple of years, though.”
“I understand. It’s enough.”
When the Hokage had left, Uchiha-sama looked down at the blond-haired baby in disgust. He really wanted nothing more then to kill the child right now, but he was the head of the Uchiha clan and an enforcer of the law. He would have to stand the demon for only a few years.
Besides, a part of him said with a pang. What if the child had been Sasuke?
The house was big enough that their children did not have to encounter the baby, who cried loudly all the time. It didn’t stop Itachi from getting past the nurses they had hired, to look down at the baby in calm, quiet interest.
“Why is he here?” the child asked his father one day.
“We’re caring for him for a while,” the man replied. “I don’t want you to go near him anymore.”
Itachi didn’t obey.
Naruto was six months old when they decided that being cooped up in the room that was his nursery would be a bit too cruel even for the demon, and they brought him outside to crawl on sunny days. Itachi and Sasuke naturally were attracted to the younger baby, if only because of his blonde hair, drastically different from the Uchiha black. They had tried in vain to keep the demon from interacting from their babies, but that had been an useless gesture. Now they relied on the fact that the children would be too young to ever remember this, even Itachi.
And especially Sasuke, whose favorite spot to take a nap was next to Naruto.
