Conservatives and Republicans today suffered their most crushing legislative defeat since the 1960s.

Perhaps people are appropriately skeptical about some of these budget figures because over the past decade, budget gimmicks and fiscal irresponsibility became the norm. Massive tax cuts (which weren’t paid for) were passed and were presented as temporary to make them seem less expensive - even as supporters fully intended to make them permanent. ( Read more... )

Rep. Andre Carson (D-Ind.) claimed Saturday that healthcare protesters at the Capitol directed racial epithets at him Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.) as they walked outside.

Carson, a member of the Congressional Black Caucus along with Lewis, told The Hill that protesters called the lawmakers the N-word.
