That is a beautiful picture! It's reminiscent of the paintings done by Tang poets in ancient China- all you're missing is some water, and fewer people!

When I was in Costa Rica a few years ago, I had the incredible priviledge of going horseback riding at the base of a semi-active volcano. It was beautiful :)

Thank you. I'm not sure I deserve that nice comment, though. The camera too, helped me to produce one horrible picture.

I wish I'd get to see an actual volcano, same as I wish I could see snow. That must have been some experience for you! Isn't it dangerous to be near a semi-active one?

Nice icon, btw.

What really drew me in was the tree branch in the upper-right corner. Cherry blossoms, and leaves/flowers in general, are pretty prevalent in Tang paintings. Also, the volcano was centrally located, which added to the sense of Tang-ness. Generally, those poems have a main focus (in this case the volcano) but the paintings tend to have classical elements such as trees, flowers, birds, water, and either no people or just a small, single figure. Sorry- I really like this stuff and I get carried away ( ... )

Ahh! don't say sorry for rambling and getting carried away. I like ramblings. :-)

Actually, the documentary I watched showed this shot of a volcano in Japan filmed through a cherry branch. The image was kind of imprinted in my mind. That's why I drew it. You may have figured out I love drawing. I'm not familiar with Tang paintings, though. But Chinese art, as a whole, is very beautiful, IMO.

I've heard that they shoot out rock and steam before the main event. Must be quite a sight. I can't believe people get fed up with snow. It seems to me such a fluffy, beautiful, -and yes- magical thing. You're lucky to get to experience it so often. I've always wanted to touch some.

I know that one! I noticed about the show somewhere and got interested. So I read the whole Wikipedia article about it. They sure seemed like a cute couple. It's so nice to have gay couples who are happy together, on TV.

Thank you very much. Yeah, I made it. At least my new water colour set is treating me well, even if my camera doesn't.

I'd love to see one in action, although it must be a very destructive and a scary occurrence. Most countries seem to have them somewhere.

How was the exam?

There's no need to say sorry, dear. We're friends. It's good to hear you did well with the exam.

For some reason, Japan is what comes to mind when thinking of volcanoes. Even the documentary I watched focused heavily on Japanese ones.

I *love* it! <3

I'm no good with a paintbrush I can only use pencils and colored pencils lol

I love the blossoms, the smooth coexistance of the soft blue with the pink makes a very calming aura for the picture. Very nice. Same with the greens and blue greens. It's a very soothing picture with lots of room for reflection. It's awesome :)

Hmm... Is the volcano/mountain here Mt. Fuji? Or is it just a general mountain? lol I was just curious.
It's the blossoms, they look like cherry blossoms but I tend to see sakura blossoms everywhere so I'm probably wrong.

Of course there is a village at the base of the mountain (does Mt. Fuji have a village? It probably does for all I know lol) so maybe a northern country? I dunno, I need to stop overthinking things lol

*goes back to studying EVERY SINGLE STUPID BONE in the human body. @.@*

Thank you very much. Actually, I like to draw with pencils most. They are really easy to use. And this one... for some reason, it doesn't make me feel like the image on the TV did. I'm probably no good at capturing stuff.

I think so. I mean, it must be. I only know it was a Japanese volcano. They showed the shot on TV. It was very impressive. If you know what I mean. I love sakura blossoms too. (Even that word is beautiful. Yet another thing I haven't actually seen.)

Studying stupid bones must be better than vector calculus and real analysis, which I'm stuck with. Wish you have better luck than I did with studying. Lol.

I ditto the comments about the blossoms. I'm very much enjoying your paintings.

Thank you very much. You're entirely too kind.

Yes, I think you're correct about the cherry blossoms. They said it was a volcano in Japan, and what is more famous than Mt. Fuji?

Still, it looked so peaceful and not volcanish at all!

Lovely! Wonderful colours!

I'm in Ak, and our Mt. Redoubt erupted a few months ago. It's here:

if you want to look. I think it's beautiful.

Thank you very much, both for the nice comment and the link. You're right, it's beautiful, and amazing too. It's strange how something so destructive can have so much beauty as well.

I hope no damage was done by the eruption....
