And so it would seem that the proposition which will attempt to make same-sex marriage unconstitutional will be on the November ballot. This is just another attempt to use the legal system to discriminate against a minority group.
This Sunday is the LA Pride parade, and I have plans to participate. I'm also going to vote come November, to help

this would remove the religious application and make it no longer an issue about the religious beliefs (which, no matter how much we might not want it to be, it is if you use the word "marriage")
but this continues to seem to be an overlooked option...
*sigh*
in the meantime, i will continue to vote down anything that tries to make it unconstitutional. but i wish someone would hear this previous idea who has some political clout.

Unfortunately, you can't assign religious meaning to a word that has none and then plan to solve the problem of rampant bigotry and hatred by telling everyone they can't use that word anymore.
Marriage is a legal union. Whether or nor your Divine Wow of choice is involved is entirely up to you, but the lack thereof does not make your union any less a marriage.
I do like the way you're thinking, though... How do we get people to take God out of politics? The sad fact is that for some people, the two are inseparable.

Perhaps removing the word "marriage" would help matters. Perhaps.
But I still think that there are those whose hatred run so deep that nothing will pacify them on the matter.
I also have deep misgivings about basically saying, "You want the word? Fine. Take it." It still is not a religious word.
