So this is fun...

I talked to the wonderful nurse this morning about some tests we did last week... the results are not only not good, but downright discouraging. My immune system is barely functional; I'm only just producing enough white blood cells to squeak by in the "normal" range ( Read more... )

Urf, sorry to hear you've got med problems. Cell count? I'm interested as I found out recently (the hard way) that I've been HIV pos for 15+ years or so.

Wow... just... wow. I'm.. well, I don't know if sorry is the right thing to say, as sorry may not be the right word for it if you've come to grips and are living your life. It's just that HIV has been the thing that has scared me the most since I was 15 (abusive situation where it was a very real danger), and I can't even begin to imagine what being in your shoes must be like.

Here's the thing: I got sick at the beginning of July, and because of the symptoms (huge, ugly sore throat, chronic fatigue) we assumed mononucelosis. However, mono tends to increase your WBC count, not decrease it, so now we have no clue what I'm harboring. I've been HIV tested three times, the most recent time being in the past month, so we know that's out... but there are other, non-STD autoimmune diseases that we might have to start looking at.

Meh, I seem to have won the lottery. I've seen pics of people who've been pos as long as I have and most of them look pretty bad. What hit me hardest was that it got right down to final end-stages pneumonia before I got any help. In fact, I collapsed right in the front door of the hospital, walked up to the nursing station and bam, lights out. Dig this... this was me after gaining 20 lbs and over two months in recovery. yeah, I expect this might be outta my nurse's control, but someone, SOMEWHERE must know :P

Also, you look great. Especially as someone who was all skin 'n bones, as you were during your hospital stay two years ago, but seriously, for someone who's had this bug as long as you, you look to be in amazing shape. It's truly inspirational!

Oh my god Ees, this is really scary. If I were the prayer type...well, you know ;) But I hope you figure out what it is and it's fixable.

This hardly any white blood cell count thing is no good. This is my decree. You must get better soon, because no one is truly happy when Ees is not! *hugs*

Although, the number of people I know experiencing bizarre and frightening medical problems is almost fascinating... I have another friend with a foot tumor that they're trying to figure out if it's cancerous, and my jaw is out of place apparently putting the nerve controlling the feeling in my mouth at jeopardy, then another friend of mine recently got out of the hospital from a urinary tract infection that spread to her kidneys...

Is there something in the water that's making our generation like old people? >.> <.< Oh noes! It's Scarecrow!!! 0.o This is Batman's cue to swoop down out of nowhere.
