the train ends up being far more logical than i ever thought it would/could be. and hopstop.com tells you exactly what to do and sends a text to your phone about it.

and, you know, you'll be here a week and a) totally see that it's only a small chunk of the population that's well put together b) have the opportunity to spot many fashion mishaps, including girls who forwent their shoebags. ha.

if it's consolation and/or helps your packing, girls carry their shoes in, like, old shopping bags.

i loved new york, and i'm sure you will too once you become comfortable with it. i wish i could live there too...

i wish someone would kiss the crook of my elbows too.

i'm sorry to hear that you're in a slump.

"how melancholy sex is for a woman. even when it is pleasurable, there is always that violet haze of gloom hovering somewhere above you, drifting near that corner of the ceiling where you've fixed your gaze at certain intervals." ... wow. that is so achingly true, dear. that was so beautifully articulated.

xx

p.s. - i lived in ny for a short period of time, and i can assure you that you'll be just fine. i'm a country kind of girl, and i survived it!

you know what? i'm not even a real country girl, i just fancy myself one! it's more that i'm just very attached to my routines and my house and my kittens. i get homesick for a home that i haven't even lived in for very long! i'll probably be homesick for ny once i finally leave there, too.

what were you in nyc for?

i understand what you mean about being attached to routine. homesickness will get you no matter where you go!

i was in nyc because i had a job doing bookkeeping for a private field club. i was only there for three months.

i had had a similar reflection about soft crab while eating sushi... you are not alone in the quest to help the almost helpless!! i have always had the feeling that some people love to pick on others while they are at their weakest- that's a whole other paragraph...

it's silly, crabs are not charming in the least, they're completely curmudgeonly creatures--but i still have a soft spot for them.

but neither am i charming, these days! i'm working on getting my charm back. it's a state of mind, i'm convinced.
