I think move to new zealand.

Also, I'm proud of you. And unions (some of them) do other things than recruit new ALP members. We heart those unions.

work for a union that is not affiliated to the ALP. Off the top of my head they are:
ANF
AEU
NTEU
VIEU
FSU
CPSU (State and Federal)

Awesome. I have applications in with both the CPSU and the FSU at the moment, so fingers crossed!

Thanks, Fi. You're fab.

Yeah - I love those guys. I'm good mates with our State Secretary, having done an internship with the Vic Division in 2004.

Unfortunately, there are no positions available with the NTEU at the moment. Which sucks. I would love to work for the NTEU.

Charlie if you believe that the purpose of recruiting in unions who are affiliated with the union movement is to increase their power base within the ALP you are the single most cynical person I know. Having worked for a union you must surely know that is not the case.

I have to admit that I do have that particular taste left in my mouth after my experience with the LHMU. I was pushed to get numbers, numbers, numbers, and the quality was secondary to the quantity. Then, once I had the numbers, I wasn't allowed to deal with those people any more, apart from getting them to do stuff for me. If they wanted anything, I referred them to a faceless call centre. It felt odd. It felt like efficiency had taken over. And I could almost smell the ALP Conference in every sign-up.

I'm so sorry, Kunkster. I don't want you to think I am a horrible person. It's just that the more time I have away from there, the more cynical I feel about it. And having worked in a non-ALP-affiliated union previously, I know how different it feels.

I'm sorry I've let you down. I don't like to not live up to what people think of me.
