I have to say, I'm disappointed with most of those. The NI police station has an edgy atmosphere of inner-urban decay, and the Denbigh asylum is well-lit, and quite conceivably possessed of a disquieting atmosphere, but the rest are lacking in impact for me. 2/10 for the Architects' Journal.
Yes - the Denbigh Asylum is very cool, I thought the NI police station was quite scary though, it feels like its had abuse hurled at it for years (which it has). I think the AJ class 'scary' as in scarily bad buildings, their own take of it would be different from ours..thanks for the other link!
