Office Hours, Thursday, After Classes

Entering her office, Laura automatically switched on the coffee pot behind her. As it gurgled and hissed, she lowered herself slowly into her chair. So many things going through her mind. Strangely, her visit to the clinic was chief among them.

A very thoughtful D'anna knocked on the door.

Laura glanced at her clock, then at the door. She marked her place in the book with a Post-It note and said, "Come in."

"Thank you." D said, entering. Her heart was in her stomach. Not literally of course, but she felt like it had fallen out of her chest and landed there as she'd gone through the corridor in class. "I need to ask you something, Miss. It's very important."

Hearing that, Laura sat up, removing her glasses. "Then I'll try to answer as best I can."
