California Trip Continued: An Amazing Mission in San Juan Bautista
I am not a religious person at all, though sometimes events at my job, this country's politics, or the state of the world in general makes me wish I were. Given that, I'm not surprised that I was awed by an old Catholic mission in the rustic village of San Juan Bautista, California, that Laurie introduced me to on our West Coast trip.

When is a trip to an aquarium worth paying $60 for two people--and that's before you add souvenirs and food to that total? When it's right along the Monterey Bay in California, and has way more exotic fish than you'll ever find in a Long John Silver's.

Carmel Beach: A Little Foggy, A Lot of Beauty

Reno: The Biggest Little City That Couldn't
I got the opportunity to visit Reno, Nevada last week to meet several members of my fiancee's family for the first time. They are a colorful and fun family, and Reno is definitely a colorful city. Fun? Well...cross Las Vegas with Poughkeepsie, New York, and you've pretty much got Reno.

Wards Island: A Creepy Manhattan Island With a View
When I hear the word "ward," I normally associate it with hospital ward or psychiatric ward. How fitting, then, that Wards Island, a small chunk of land in the East River that runs parallel to approximately 103rd Street to 125th Street in Manhattan, is home to the Kirby Forensic Psychiatric Center, which houses the criminally insane. Brooklyn Bridge Park: More Access to the NYC Skyline is Always a Good Thing
The Fulton Ferry Landing, the pier directly underneath the Brooklyn Bridge, is one of my very favorite spots in New York City.
