He waits.

He's keeping an eye on Hebe, but he's listening for the door. Ares is due to show up. If he doesn't, well, Herc's beaten him up pretty bad before.

And he's got this notion for decorating War's hall with peace signs...

Ares. Coming. Here.

They'd had an argument, of sorts, about it; she and Herc. Did the invitation mean Ares could get past the wards. And was that the grounds wards, or the house wards ? Or would it be another 'call from beyond the boundaries'?

The thought made her tense up. She'd never had a chance to fully explain all the ins and outs of the bound she shared with her brother to Herc.

The thought of the strain to keep Ares blocked out of her mind, when he'd be so close...

But trial or no trial Herc wanted him to appologize. And that she supposed was better than things escalating with more violence and brutality.

The thought of her brother made her shiver. Hebe sat, curled up under a blanket in a stall in the stables. The one place that hadn't seen blood and gore.

Artemis and her maidens had done well in purifying the place. But Hebe still...remembered....

Worst than that, rolling in her mind was a whisper of...'hate'.

She tensed and lowered her head to her knees, not wanting to watch Herc pace back and forth anymore.

*predatory instincts lauded as brown fur-covered toes rasp sandpaper pads across the gravel leading to the temple. Cropped ears and tail, by no human hand, twitch in unison to various sounds alerting the kingly canine of unsuspecting adolescence about him. A silver, discreet chain collar adorning the solid neck of the Doberman, a cherished bear in the mouth of the beast. His traveling was swift, bypassing the first gate without contention..*

He paces, waiting. Ares is going to show up. He's certain of that. Almost sure.

If he doesn't, Herc is going to drag him here. He'll have to. Ares won't be able to walk with both of his legs broken.

Hebe lifts her head up slowly. "He's here."

She could feel Ares, brushing past the wards and no matter what Herc thought about his abilities, this was his home now too; he should be able to feel as well.

More than that, though, she just knew. There was a sense whenever Ares was nearby. It called to something in her. It made things click and flare within her mind.

For a moment she was so tense, she couldn't swallow. Hebe clamped down on her internal shields and blinked back anxious tears as she shifted to stand on her feet.

She has no idea what to think. It's overwhelming.

"Why..." Why do you keep hurting me, confusing me...

It makes her head hurt, and down her neck with how sincere he is. She can feel it.

As sincere now as he was angry before.

She shakes her head, and moves her hands to wipe back tears, dropping the bear.

"I...I can't do this now."

Hebe moves to head back into the house, holding her head in her hands.

*assumes that's his indication to depart on his own free will or be clutched by the scruff of his neck and a limb and launched beyond the boundaries of their property. Receding a step, a cluster of sable hair standing on end just above his tail, neck's fur also standing on end, a natural fear/aggressive reaction*

Hebe pauses a moment, and claps a hand to her thigh, without turning around.

She needs time. She knows she needs time...except she can feel him calling to her.

He watches Hebe go, concerned, then bends to pick up the bear, brushing it off carefully.

"Better'n I expected. You come back again, you got that? I'll talk to her. And remember, you be nice to her."

He nods to Ares again, then turns and follows Hebe inside.
