Watch that ant and learn
The centipede and spider too.
Man cannot for he knows
Too much
His knowledge from the fool
Gives him power and wealth
His god is his stomach
'When full
He's happy and content.'
Wisdom has been evicted
Knowledge; a tangled fishing line.
Greed is now his inspiration
His pressed suite and good looks
Tell us he's kind.

Great poem. It is so true what you say, "His god is his stomach". Our stomach rules our every move in life. We live in a life of plenty (well most of us do) and we forget about the possibility of something greater than ourselves and so our hunger for not only nourishment but also materialistic acquirements influences our every decision in life.
All of this education and knowledge we have at out fingertips sometimes, instead of making our lives easier actually confuses us. "Knowledge a tangled fishing line", this line captures the mess someone can feel they are in a situation where they think they have all the knowledge. Sometimes the more fishing line you have, the bigger and more painful the tangled mess.

Thankyou for that. I was just thinking about somethings that MG said during class about Malouf's novel and seeing what is going on around us with the Stock Markets and my own stuff-ups in the past that got me writing about this.
Knowledge can be a two edged sword. If one is wise about the knowledge they gain, they can become humble and meek, or their actions could be saying, "look at me! Look at me!"
