Underneath the palm tree alone
Shaded from the shade of clouds
That blocks the wind from soaring high
Into heaven's abyss.

The afternoon fresh; makes my day long and tired
As I patiently wait for class-
Two hours away.

The warmth of spring encourages me to study
Yet all I do is write verse
To have understanding and be someone
I don't care if this craft

Hi Ian,
Many a time I have sat and written and in all those instances I have felt great freedom and happiness. A pen and paper always allows me to be entwined in a place which I either long to be in or wonder about, but lonely I never am, not when I have paper and pen. The ciggies are another thing I can completely understand. I wouldn't go anywhere with at least a back up pack in my bag. When I ran low a certain kind of unsettled edge overcame me and I could't focus on anything until I had another stash in my close at hand.

Over the years I have written bits and pieces, some ok and some not so good. Writing is something I absolutely love and the whole experience can be much sweeter than honey if you allow yourself to be completely immersed in the moment of thought.

Ian, I can't believe how much your writing has progressed. There is such a difference from the self conscious yet disconnected from self writing that you produced when I first met you to this very simple yet very rich expression of self.
Don't worry what others think. Just write for you.I am very proud of you. The lines "The ink is honey/ Words in my head stick to sentences" just resonated within my brain. Inspired.
