Poem; WHERE IS AUSTRALIA’S ' WAITANGI DAY' ?

I didn’t realize that this week was Indigenous Week. In the quad sitting on my own I got thinking about it and what it means to me, as a foreigner looking from the outside in. Doing so I got to think about the country I was born and raised in; Aotearoa. This is the poem I penned when I should've actually been studying. lol

Like it man, I have been watching a doco series on the first australians, told from there point of view. Makes me glad I didn't live in those times and also that I have maori ancestry as well. There was the odd exception maybe half a dozen white fella's that did their best to hlep aboriginal society but as usual were shouted down by the mob. Love your work

Hey Bro,
Yeah I've been watchin' the same doco too. It's one of the best doco's I've seen since the Amercian Civil War doco was on awhile ago.

Great question to stir the mind and to ponder your thoughts as to why? The answer may lay in the first verse and I agree the divide is indeed still wide. Although through propaganda we are convinced that steps are being taken to improve relations, there is still the absence of respect to the Indigenous People thus the continuing separation!

It's good to read you think of home (Land of the Long White Cloud) even when you should be studying (lol)! It must be in these moments of preparedness that your poetic expressions emerge. I like it. You're good at it. Keep writing!
