As these things go...

Yesterday I went to see The New Mikado with my roommate (It's de-Japanese'd so that the problematic bits of it are mostly non-existent). It was pretty amusing. However, having had approximately three hours of sleep due to going to frolic (Had fun, left kind of early, danced a fair amount, was hit on about five minutes after walking in so slightly ( Read more... )

Eep! That's scary. Any idea why the heating element was still on? Is this a gas-powered stove or electric?

I think the knob is broken somehow...I know I've had problems with it not quite turning off till you tweak it a bit. It was pretty worrisome, definitely!

It's an electric...if it were a gas stove I would have called the emergency line since that would probably mean it was leaking gas as well.

Glad you're okay and nothing was broken/burned up. I'll definitely have to keep an eye out for those sort of shenanigans with my stove.

Thanks. It's working out so far though I guess it's been only a week. I've been so buried in work stuff on top of looking for someone that I feel like I could use a month of vacation.

Which roomie was this, again? I recall the high-maintenance bike guy not really looking viable. Good going, anyhow - selecting roomies isn't an easy task, given they'll likely be around most of the time you are, so getting along smoothly is so important. (Someone I knew had a shortcut: the roomie was a submariner, so he was out at sea half the time =:)

Not sure if I talked about this one much because it moved fast. He's a 19 year old barista who's dad is paying his rent *laugh* The high maintenance bike guy turned us down because he thought he could find something cheaper/better in mountain view. Which, if I anticipated any contact with him in the future, I would be prepared to mock him for.

That's a very interesting power. Are you looking to set up a Bay Area chapter of the Mystery Men?

(Some great parts in there - still, for my money, one of the best roles William H Macy's had, not to mention Ben Stiller. And FSM knows, I'd love to see Janeane Garofalo in many more films - she absolutely rocked her role. And then there's Tom Waits' cameo.. =:)

Our cooker developed a vaguely similar problem a while back, but thankfully harmless - it also seems like a stuck thermostat, but only controlling a little warning light that informs the unwary that the stove top is hot. The elements themselves are all fine - it's just that warning light is now permanently illuminated, even if nobody's been near the stove in hours. It's a very, very cautious stove.

It was certainly a weird timed premonition/worry, I have to admit. I suppose if I do have a mild psychic power predicting fire hazards in my house isn't a bad one *laugh*

They repaired the knob and it seems to work fine now. This one had been a bit bad about turning off the on light on that burner but actually turning off so I suppose it was just a matter of time before it had further issues.
