True that.

Quotation of the evening:

"Every time someone quotes "Anchorman", somewhere a fairy falls down dead." -Me

It's true. There are few words to express how much I detest that movie. I've seen it twice, out of social necessity - that is, I had the choice of either sitting and watching or leaving an otherwise enjoyable social occasion, and both times, I chose to stay.

I'm remembering now, however, that the most recent time this happened, I left right after the movie was over, possibly confusing/perturbing some of my friends... and now, at this very belated time, I'd like to apologise for that. I was in a weird sort of mood at that point, and feeling a little awkward... but it did turn out that the rest of that evening was good time spent with my parents. So that was cool. But it's always weird, you know, when you leave a gathering before it disperses. It's always a long, lonely drive home, best taken in the rain.

Hmm. This post was supposed to be funny, not serious-like-whoa. But I did also realise that I hardly ever update this thing, even though I'm always thinking about things and experiencing things and enjoying things and struggling through things and wondering things and so on. I think I have a bit more to write before I call it a night. But if you find yourself needing a reprieve, you'll notice that this is behind a cut - so go back to your friends page, read the quotation, giggle a bit, and then send yourself off to sleep.

Now for some easy stuff to write:

Birthday Goodies for 2005
  • Miracles by C.S. Lewis (thanks, Hannah :) )
  • t-shirt (double thanks, Hannah :) )
  • Sexy new short-sleeved button-up shirt, red
  • Sexy new pair of shorts bathing suit
  • Sizable bag of Mrs. Fields' cookies. (amazing.)
  • Mogwai - Come On Die Young
  • Modest Mouse - The Lonesome Crowded West
  • Radiohead - Seven Television Commercials (DVD)
  • Rage Against the Machine - Live at the Grand Olympic Auditorium (DVD)
  • Garden State (DVD)
  • The Postal Service - Give Up
  • Weezer - Make Believe
  • guitar strings and picks like whoa
  • (...there's got to be one more item that I can't remember for some reason. maybe not.)

I broke two guitar strings tonight, both Ds. What the crap, I say. I should probably restring the whole thing now, grr. I have no idea where to buy backup guitar strings around here.

There is a Hard Rock Café at Universal Studios, where I work. (Actually, I work at a restaurant not remotely close to said Café, but it's the same general park area, owned by the same general huge cult-like corporation. But that's a story for another time.) Throughout the summer, there are bands playing classic rock albums (in their entirety, it would seem) at said Café. On June 19, one of them is playing "OK Computer", and OMG I AM SO GOING YOU HAVE NO IDEA. Luckily, I won't be alone. Whee!

I would have more spiritual things to talk about, but... man, I'm tired. Perhaps tomorrow; I'm not doing much tomorrow. On Wednesday, however, it's back to the grind. Having Monday and Tuesday off of work is my equivalent 3-day weekend, since I work on Saturdays.

Actually, I would have more spiritual and non-spiritual things to talk about, but... man, I'm tired. Bed is extremely appealing right now. So I'm going, now, I think.

    -brett out

P.S. Everybody go see Semblance of Normalcy, Tanooki Suit, Anathallo, and Unwed Sailor rocking in the Traverse City on June 27th. Get your face rocked off in my stead, please. It is extremely high on my list of shows that I regretfully have to miss and, consequently, cry bitter tears over. (Also, if that last sentence went in one ear and out the other, scrambling things up in the middle a bit, don't fret. Read it over again. You'll get it.)

P.P.S. Forrest, have you contacted the Jon Timm about a BLU show in August upon my return and completion of our magnum opus?
