Not what she'd planned for herself, perhaps, but happiness is where one finds it. I love the way the "rattle of coins and beads" presages that return to what's real and here and now.

Beautiful! Your Jack voice is still pitch perfect, and his mannerisms are as well. I love Lizzie missing the cold and snow, and her memories of the holidays back in England, and the wistful, fleeting memory of the dancing.

Firelight and promises is marvelous, and I just adore this:
