Fairy Tales - Dreadful Longing

Aug 04, 2011 00:13

Title: Dreadful Longing
Rating: R-ish
Summary: A not so little Red Riding Hood and the Wolf. A meeting in the woods, of course ("woods" also being the prompt).
Author's note: It's been a busy, busy summer, and I haven't had much time for fannish things. But I was browsing the prompts for the Porn Battle XII and inspiration unexpectedly struck. ( Read more... )

Ahh! How lovely to read something you've written again. I love the sense of danger and the forbidden about this. As always you put me right into the setting so that I have the vividest pictures in my head. And somehow I get the sense that if the story goes on, in spite of her inexperience and his power, interesting things might happen to that balance--that perhaps there are things in which he is inexperienced, and perhaps there are things where she has the power. Such a beautiful piece to savour, and its ability to slip so easily into allegory make it so very fitting for a fairytale.

Thank you very much for the thoughtful feedback, and you have the most appropriate icon too! It's great to hear that the setting came across so vividly, as well as the sense of danger. And about the balance of power, yes, I do believe that it could shift between them, just as you said.

I actually held my breath when he started walking towards her.

Like always, you write to make your readers lose themselves in the words.

The phrasing of this alone:

she hit the trunk of a fir, her shoulders pressing into the uneven surface of the bark.

Just, gutted me, as you are just...amazingly talented.

I've said it before (I think) and I'll say it again(?), you should really publish your own work ♥ really.

Also, I love fairy tales :-) and this is a very dark and well-written twist :-)

Wow, it really must work, then, if it had you holding your breath while reading ;-) That's so great to hear, and your kindness, as so many times before, amazes me. I really can't thank you enough. *hugs*

Oh, such a wonderful, dark piece. I love your descriptions of the wolf in particular.

It isn't something I would ever have thought I'd write, but I had fun doing it and I'm happy you liked it. Thanks for letting me know, I appreciate that :-)

It's fascinating with fairy tales and I guess after mythology, the step wasn't all that big :-)

Every line is interlaced with emotions that feel almost tangible. Oh, that's wonderful, and I'm so very glad. Thank you. ♥

OHMYWORD...rather spicy this one and well worth the read. Don't know if I've been responsible and followed it through thoroughly, but I'm going to read again til I understand all. This was my quick and feeling read to get that emotion wash, like when you first walk into the water at the beach and you become immediately aware of the pull of the water, even if it's a still day with satin surfaced water. Good work.

So happy you thought it was worth the read, and I hope it will hold up for repeated readings beyond that first emotional wash, as well :-) Thank you very much for your comment!
