Last night I was watching my favorite Russian TV show "Let's Talk!" with my host parents.  Lena informed me it was about "relationships between the sexes" but it was really about transexualism in Russia.  They were talking to an FTM who was fighting to get the gender on his passport changed so he could legally be his children's father and marry his ( Read more... )

A lot of the students they quoted in that article were seriously annoying. People are lame, I miss my Ana.

I got my pre-departure info packet for Cairo today... I'm so excited!

Yeah, most of them were lame. I don't know why people study abroad if it isn't to actually immerse themselves in a new culture and language.

My classes are in English in Cairo. I'm a loser. The uni's still like 80% Egyptian and another 10% misc. Arab, though, so I feel redeemed.

Well, I'm taking 8 credits of Russian language, 4 credits of an English language class, and 4 credits of Arabic. So I'm not that hardcore either. But if you put the effort into really learning Arabic, it'll work out. :-)

I've been taking pictures of political ads and will put them up on fb/lj somepoint soon. I'm going to wait a few more weeks to see if any new parties start advertising.
