So with 2nd Gen rapidly approaching and this log probably not finishing any time soon, I'm just going to make the Isaac plot post now. Because things are going to change oh yes.
Through plotting and backstabbing and other secretive things, Renois and Persephone are going to succeed in making it look Liam is being unfaithful to his wife ('Irony'? Wazzat?). During the winter festival, no less. He'll be "caught" by some chatty/hysterical person during the festival and the news will spread before anyone has a chance to try and hide it.
Persephone will be shocked ("How could you Liam ;_;"), the people will be outraged ("And he's supposed to be an EXAMPLE? >:O!") and Liam's conservative goverment will have no choice to banish their king under their own outdated laws. So now the goverment is in crisis since they never saw THIS happening and what are they going to do NOW and the queen is already pregnantand why did this happen WHY DX
Fortunately, upon hearing the news through the journal, Renois will make it over to Isaac quickly and take over the throne (it's his sister who's the queen, through his marriage he's close enough to the royal family for some of the more liberal conservatives and he already had a fair amount of support) quickly and peacefully, also because he promises to respect the rightful heir to the throne once he/she is old enough.
Two decades are already quite a while though, and Isaac is going to see some changes. Several horribly outdated laws (like the ridiculous one that forces the royal family's heir to marry someone from Sophala; promoting incest what the hell Isaac!) will be removed or changed, and overall, Isaac will move to becoming a more modern nation, still built on its foundation of "hard work is good" but no longer held back by tradition.
Education will be stimulated throughout the country, with higher standards for a basic education everywhere. and it's worth noting that the Sophalan Academy will be a big success. Foreign teachers have been attracted to teach there, and quality control for the school will be very high for the first several years. Isaacian students from all over the country graduating from it will generally get a high position in society, and help advance the country even more.
And Isaac will do quite well as a result. As opposed to their previous stance, Renois will actively encourage trading with foreign countries. Rivough will become a major trading hub for both Grandbell and Lenster, Isaac's port will grow rapidly and even Tilnanoque will grow moderately, becoming the country's link to Silesia. Sophala and Ganeishire will grow as well. Sophala and it's mining/weapon industry always does well whenever there's a war going on, and with Lenster at war, it's about as good as it can get. (With maybe a closer relationship between Isaac and Lenster as a result somewhere around here?) Ganeishire focuses more on farming and trading within the country. The different cities begin specializing more than before, and production increases as a result. At the same time, it improves the nation's feeling of unity! PROFIT :Db
Renois also sends out a select number of people to different nations across the continent (this would actually include Thracia and Verdane, given the chance), feeling the country has been isolated from the rest of the world for far too long and first-hand information (on a lot of things) is the best kind of information. Some people will certainly be going "...:')" when they hear how crappy half the world is doing.
So basically, Isaac will grow from a traditional, self-centered country of hard-working farmers, miners and lumberjacks to a more unified country of hard working farmers, miners, lumberjacks, scholars and merchants that's quickly adapting to a more modern way of life. Although foreign prejudice is hard to break, there's no way anyone with actual knowledge about post-timeskip Isaac would call it a backwater country anymore.
Renois is horribly overworked, though. POOR RENOIS ;_;
And well, there's obviously trouble brewing what with a good number of people going "hey Renois gtfo that castle you non-royal family person you" underneath the surface. Although there are obviously a lot of people who are actually quite HAPPY with him at the wheel. so much for unity osnp.
