I always like philosophical; I sometimes like personal. I believe in keeping the really personal stuff to oneself - I rarely read entries from people who are articulating their woes because, regardless of how *they* see it, I feel I'm crossing an inappropriate line. I see a sharp division between private put-it-in-my-journal stuff and public put-it-on-my-blog stuff. Another person's misery isn't my business, especially in a forum as impersonal as this.
For what it's worth, I enjoy reading your updates about living in San Diego and your library adventures. I like having a window to other peoples' experiences.

I like a good mix of personal and philosophical. I like the personal to know what's going on in my friends' lives, and just to see how other people live. I like the philosophical to see how other people think, and occasionally I like a good heated debate.
