one thing i both like and dislike about college
a double edged sword if you will

there's too many people who you can friend and just as easily throw away.
sometimes i feel like we all mean nothing to each other in the long run
like we're just there to amuse each other... part of our instant gratification

if i could fix everything i would

That's not just college, but life. When you consider how many people you meet and become acquainted with, and how many of those people you actually have some sort of relationship with... the percentage of the people you become involved with (I'm talking not just intimacy, but friendship, too) is really quite small (for most people, anyway).

Here we are, searching for someone, ANYONE to connect to. Someone to spill our hearts to, someone to confide in, someone to love and make us feel loved. But despite our inborn desperation for this connection, we really don't put the effort into making a genuine connection with everyone.

As a side note, I believe you can fix everything -- just by changing your outlook, accepting and embracing everything/everyone that you encounter, and encouraging others to do so. <3

Amen. That's how I felt for a long time when I first started college. Even up until the end of my sophomore year. Junior year is pretty good though. After spending so much time with my room mates it seems to even out. I probably was impatient thinking I might meet people right away that I'll be perfectly close with that I can trust with my life. It takes a while to create significant bonds, but once they're made it's all worth it.
