And I say “Thank you for serving.” whenever I meet one of you.

Thank you for not running to Canada when you were drafted.

Thank you for putting on the uniform

And swearing to defend us against all enemies

Both Foreign and domestic

Thank you for volunteering

For standing watch

For ensuring that
