I haven't heard of vintage mainstreet, but I have (a currently empty) ETSY shop, and a lot of the friends I have online do as well. Their rates are much more reasonable than eBay, and their policies seem quite fair.

Also, eBay has added a new feature - unless you have a stellar rating as a seller, purchases made by you will be handled as "escrow". The customer pays, eBay dumps the $ into an escrow, you ship the item, the customer marks it received in good condition, then eBay releases the $ to you in 2-3 business days. If the customer doesn't receive the item or is unhappy with the condition then eBay returns the $ to the customer. The sellers I know who've been hit with this are very unhappy.

Good luck! I have a bunch of stuff to get into my Etsy shop (hopefully next week), and I'll keep you posted as to how it goes. There are lots of OOAK ren/pirate pieces and some vintage clothes (50's, 60's, 80's) I plan to put online there.
