Date night with Ronald Weasley

Hermione sat at her desk in her bedroom, peering into the mirror that hung above it. A hairbrush, a bottle of Sleekeazy's Hair Potion, a tube of lipstick and mascara, and a few other pieces of make-up and jewelry were scattered in front of her. She picked up something, held it near her face, then placed it back on the desk. She wasn't very good at ( Read more... )

Dating hadn't exactly been what they'd done the first time around. Not in the strictest sense of the term anyway. They'd gone on what had technically been dates, but Ron couldn't remember ever calling them that.

That was probably why he was actually nervous when he knocked on Hermione's door. He'd even gone so far as to dress up more than usual. Gone were the plain jeans and long sleeve t-shirt. Instead, he'd gone with actual slacks and a dark navy button-down.

When Hermione heard the knock at her door, her stomach sent a flurry of butterflies through her body. It was both weird and nice to be so nervous about seeing Ron. They had never tried to impress each other, or do anything in particular to show their commitment to the other, they had just fallen into place with each other- well... They had finally showed how they really felt in the face of death.

Which... was actually kind of romantic at the time.

But, that relationship and crumbled and failed. Now, as adults and no doom in sight, they still wanted to make it work.

Hermione checked herself in the mirror one more time before making her way to the door. She paused and exhaled, then pulled it open.

A huge smile spread across her face at the sight of Ron in actual pants and real, grown-up shoes. "I'm sorry, who are you? I don't think I recognize this man."

As she opened the door, Ron felt his eyes light up. She was always pretty, Ron always thought so. But she definitely looked different tonight, and he might be daft, but he wasn't blind or completely stupid.

"I stopped the bloke on his way to pick you up. Figured you were too beautiful for him."

A light blush appeared on her cheeks, but she played it off as a chill from the wind creeping into her warm home and crossed and grabbed her upper arms. "Well, you can come in if you don't tell him about it."

Hermione stepped to the side to allow the gentleman in. "I just have to leave some food out for Crookshanks first," she explained.
