The last dozen-or-so times I have been through the Golden Arches has been to pee, not purchase. My T-shirt is organic; my chocolate fairly traded; my vegetables grown locally and in season ( Read more... )

You wandered right into my wheelhouse. Consumerism, guilt, cultural imperialism, and saving things local are always on my mind ( ... )

I laughed out loud when you said My local beer is Budweiser. It seems like a contradiction in terms, but of course it is not. If Bud are doing good things for you all about fine then fine. But then again, Bud won't die if you stop drinking it. Any microbreweries in need of patronage around about?

So we share the same wheel house? Well, then we have good company to go along with guilt! Incidentally my mum, for a while, was a hippy selling bottomless cups of coffee.

Hey Chief,

Aye I remember well. The day Scotland beat France is not going to sink from memory too quickly! Yes, I'm in Aberdeen on a pretty permanent basis, and a fair whack of that time in Kilau. I don't know Craig or Eion personally, but a friend of mine was at Gray's with one of them. If you do see them be sure to pass on my compliments

Good to hear from you.

Yeah that will be Eion...

And yeah I shall pass any compliments. :-)

If you see me in there at any point, (I'm not in there now as often as I was,) then please feel free to say hello!

Oh and note I now have a silly beard... ;-)

Your principles are one of your many solid and attractive qualities. The fact that you're willing to revisit them along the way continues to ensure that they are in place for a reason, rather than just being a nebulous vestige of a context no longer relevant or needed. We've talked about this on more than one occasion: it never comes off as preachy, because you continue to be thoughtful about the impetus of your consumer principles. And, as you've informed me, it really does come down to that damned question: is it worth the scrutiny ( ... )

You know what my habits are and why, I can only be gad you will be there scutinizing my scrutiny. Tell me when I go off track, or when I go too far. Quality is key, but frankly, anything that crosses an ethical line cannot be 'quality'. You and I are surely close on this one.
