So good, isn't it? 16 more episodes of the best show now on tv!
USA Network announced Thursday that it's new freshman TV show "Suits" will be around for another 16 episode season. "Suits" managed to garner the number 3 spot of all time for a freshman season of an original USA series.
That's a pretty huge deal considering the uniquely creative original programming that USA Network has been known for in recent years including: "Covert Affairs," "White Collar," "Burn Notice," "Psych," "In Plain Sight," "Royal Pains," "Fairly Legal" and the other summer newcomer "Necessary Roughness."
Season one of "Suits" is just wrapping up filming of the first season in Toronto and the USA executives wanted to announce the TV show renewal before the actors and crew went on hiatus.
"One of the things that we are trying with this show is really pushing out, trying new things," USA co-president Jeff Wachtel said. "With Suits, we've gone to a new level of storytelling and visual sophistication and to a little bit of an edgier place -- Harvey is not immediately likable and the young hero has made so many bad choices in his life, when we meet him he is dealing drugs. For a network that has made its mark with aspirational characters and smart escapism, this is a step in a new direction." Added co-president Chris McCumber, "The show opened another Thursday 10 PM success for us after Burn Notice and Royal Pains, and we view it as a long-term player."

"Suits" has something addictive about it that we can't quite put our finger on. The tension and brotherhood between the two main characters Mr. hotshot Manhattan lawyer brilliantly crafted by Gabriel Macht taking a risk on a wildcard genius Patrick J. Adams by hiring him for his legal firm even though he doesn't have a law degree.
You also just can't get a better actor for a sleazy New York attorney than Rick Hoffman and he plays his part Louis Litt to perfection.
Wachtel’s counterpart Chris McCumber explained that, “With Suits, you’ve got two characters who frankly you wouldn’t have seen on USA four or five years ago. One is a closer lawyer who’s not all that likeable at first, and the other guy’s been busted for selling pot. We push out against the brand while making sure you’re not alienating the base but growing it.”
USA is known for quirky funny characters but "Suits" is breaking new ground for the network with bringing up legal scenarios that are less than savory and having such somewhat unlikeable and untrustable characters that you somehow grow to love by the third episode. The USA staff are pure genius when it comes to creating "characters" just like they advertise.
