I went to see Rent. I'll give this movie an A. The only flaw I saw was that there was a song in EVERY scene (Rent had a LOT of scenes [I understand that it was a musical, but no musical I ever saw had songs in every scene]. RENT is awesome! I haven't seen it yet because I've had to work, but I want to. I've cried like a bajillion times, but I was only listening to the soundtrack..so I'll probably cry seeing the film. Angel Dumott Schunard is indeed awesome!

i'm that anonymous friend of los kamatos.

"is it really okay to cry? even in today's society where the pressure to "be a man"?"

That's a fun one to ponder. Are you more concerned about being labeled "not a man," or "gay"? Perhaps you're not concerned with either.. hey, I don't know you anyway. :)

The taboo against men crying, and overall male emotional expressiveness is a silly one. More people are recognizing this, I think, but it's going to be a while until men crying is as 'acceptable' as women crying. The big problem is the norm that emotional expressiveness is linked with weakness. Since women are associated with weakness... it's going to be a damn long time until that condition is overturned.

I'm not immune to this stuff: I think it's cool when I see men cry (vs being neutral to it).

Adios!
