PERSONALITY;When the movie first starts, we see the Aura Guardian/Knight persona. He comes off as a serious character, resolved to do what he must, without bothering to explain his actions to those question him. He might come off as standoffish and rude but in fact, it’s his desire to prevent others from interfering with his ultimate goal.
When he sealed Lucario into the staff, he was actually doing it to insure that Lucario didn’t follow him and suffer Aaron’s ultimate fate. In Aaron’s mind, “betraying” his closest friend was the only way to keep Lucario safe. Nothing will stop Aaron from his goals and in the end, he’ll give everything (including his life, if he had to) to make sure he succeeded. Once he becomes devoted to a cause, there’s no stopping him. He’s just that stubborn.
Over the course of the film, in flashbacks made by the Time Flowers and from Lucario’s memory, we see that Aaron wasn’t really that serious of a man, but almost the opposite. He’s a man content with his life and sees the world as pleasant place to be (and a place to be protected and preserved). If someone feels stressed around him, he would do his best to get them to relax (as seen when he tugged Lucario closer to the hot spring to soak its feet). He easily smiles for Lucario during almost every conversation they have.
Aaron is a living real definition of what a hero and martyr really is. He’s noble and kind but he knows when to be serious. As an Aura Guardian, Aaron’s main priority is the safety of others by any means necessarily. He also holds training of Aura abilities in high regard, always ensuring that his skill (and that of Lucario’s) is always up to par. Also, Aaron tends to enjoy the idea observing everything around him, cataloging every detail and bringing other’s attention to them if he thinks them important and/or interesting.
In terms of relationships, his strongest onscreen relationship Aaron has was between him and Lucario. Although Lucario thought of him only as a Master, Aaron admits that he always thought of Lucario as a close friend. During his tutorlege of Lucario, Aaron encouraged Lucario not to take life too seriously. Aaron also held believed in Lucario and thought the best of him. He tried to save his friend from suffering the same fate he did when he sealed Lucario into his staff, an act that he regretted greatly. He left a message for Lucario in his dying moments to explain his reasons why he had done what he did.
We don’t know much about Aaron’s relationship to the Ruler of his time, Queen Rin. However from the manner she acted as she watched the upcoming war that would use her kingdom as the battleground; she clearly showed intense concern for Sir Aaron and Lucario. Likely, Rin and Aaron had a close relationship outside the concept of Knight and Queen. They were most likely friends and had a strong enough friendship that after the crisis was adverted, Rin had commissioned at least two large paintings for her throne room in honor of Aaron and spoke tales of his heroism that lasted to present day. Aaron also praises Rin in his final moments as it was a privelage to serve a “Beautiful Queen”.
That in mind, we know that Aaron is a loyal and dedicated person. We know that he cares deeply about his job as an Aura Guardian and his friends. He’s clearly had a strong enough impression on others to have a lasting legacy that even centuries later, he’s still celebrated as a hero.
Any dislikes he has shown in the actual canon would be a dislike of War and violence. Upon hearing that the armies were coming to do battle, Aaron didn’t hesitate to do the right thing, especially if innocent lives were in danger. He outright told Lucario he had abandoned the Queen and the Kingdom. Though Lucario had believed that Aaron was a traitor, it turned out that Aaron actually sacrificed his Aura-his very life essence-to ensure peace.
In summary, Sir Aaron was knight of Cameron Palace and a “True Guardian of the Aura”. His legacy of heroics lasted centuries and it is well-deserved.
