There was nothing wrong with two grown adults sharing the one bed because the hotel had clearly made a mistake and Steve didn't want them to feel badly about it by complaining. Why did it seem like that wasn't a sincere apology?

Tony, on the other hand, was slightly less at ease for some reason. It could have been the heat doing things to his subconscious. It could have been a lot of things, really. Wasn't the brain just a bitch and a half when it came to nightmares?

He woke up with a start, breaths coming out in panicked little gasps and hands going to his chest as he tried to sit upright.

Hypervigilance was both normal and a-okay for them both, right? Right.

It took a moment from Tony to orientate himself, latching onto the wireless network to confirm day, time, and GPS location before he could reply. "Nothing," he said roughly, hand still on his unmarred chest.
