Appearance:

Psychology: Spider-Man is rather complex for a super hero. Whenever he is outside his costume. Peter is a little shy and timid, especially around girls. He is considered to be a huge nerd and very low on the social ladder at his midtown high school. Often times he deals with bullying, mostly at the hands of Flash Thompson, but unlike other versions majority of people just tend to leave him alone.

He loves learning, mostly about science and gets really excited when dealing with anything about it. He is at the top of his class and often asked by teachers to tutor other students. Also because of his intellect he was chosen, along with his friend Gwen Stacey, to work along side a college research program run by Dr. Curt Connors and his assistant Eddie Brock. Many would consider him to be a total bookworm and obsessed with all things science.

Friends and family are both very important to Peter. Whenever his friends need his help or advice, he tries hard to help them through their problems. As Peter he is caring and understanding to their predicaments and feelings and as Spider-Man he saves their lives from certain doom. Many of his decisions are based on whether or not they hurt or help them out. This is a bit problematic as often times he agonizes his choices and always attempts to do what's right. However, unlike other versions, this doesn't really occur that often and he is able to move on quicker from those decisions. Even so he will try his best to take them into account and does his best to make amends when his time as Spider-Man interferes with his time with them.

One of the main forces that drives him is guilt. As Spider-Man he had let a burglar, known as Walter Hardy, escape after robbing Sullivan Edwards. Later on Peter finds out from Aunt May that Uncle Bed had been shot and he hunted Hardy down to an abandoned warehouse. Unlike in the movies, Spider-Man catches him and leaves him there for the police. Because of his actions leading up until his uncle's death, he feels responsible for the death of his uncle and by fighting crime, is trying to atone for it. This is not the only occasion that he feels massive guilt for. By being Spider-Man, he misses out a lot on the life of his family, Aunt May, and feels terrible that he cannot be home enough to spend time with her. This guilt gets ramped up more when she dies, feeling once again responsible. He believes that he should have known she wasn't feeling well and had he managed to fend off the Sinister Six, could have prevented her heart attack. He also feels guilty for taking pictures of Dr. Connors as the Lizard and for breaking up his friendship with Eddie Brock over the fiasco.

Spider-Man is most known for his quips made in the middle of fights. He is not at all hesitant to drive his enemies nuts with wise-cracking and snide remarks, often using this to distract them and get the advantage he needs. Usually this is the only time that he makes these remarks openly, never really saying any of these sorts of things as his alter-ego (though sometimes he slips). However, sometimes he becomes overly confident and really cocky, mostly to his determent. This can lead to him losing whatever advantage he has, or dragging the fight on longer.

The biggest influence to his life was the last words Uncle Ben had spoken to him; “With great power comes great responsibility.” Since he was gifted from such incredible powers, he feels the need to use them to help people and no longer try to cash in on them. That's not to say he doesn't use his heroics to help support his aunt. He takes pictures of himself and sells them to the Daily Bugle, seeing that the money he is getting is helping his family and being responsible.

Other Skills/Abilities: Part of makes him Spider-Man is his ability to cling to nearly any surface. This enables him to walk up walls, ceilings, or anything that he feels like attaching to. He also is superhuman strength which enables him to lift men much larger than him, though he cannot lift more than a car. He also hits very, very hard. Other abilities that he has are increased speed, stamina, better than Olympic gymnast agility and heightened reflexes.

He has something called “spider sense” which allows him to know when dangerous things are coming at him. This is not really physic like in the comics. In this version it follows more like the movies, where things slow down for him and he is able to tell what is coming at him. This, combined with his reflexes, make him a rather hard target to hit and enable him to be very good at hand to hand combat. It also helps him when web swinging through the city and dodging obstacles.

With his other enhancements he is more durable than most humans. This means that he can take harder hits, things falling on him, slammed through walls, falling from great heights and other things that would cause serious harm to humans. However, this does not mean that these things in excess can't harm him either. In addition to being more durable, he has an accelerated healing factor. This means that he heals much faster than most people, but no where near the ability that Wolverine has.

He cannot make his own webbing. In order to shoot webs from his wrists he must wear “web shooters”, mechanical devices able to utilize the web cartridges he creates for himself. This is the only spider-like ability he lacks.

Other Weaknesses: Too high heights and more damage than his body can heal on it's own. Also as still being a type of human, he is susceptible to things like drowning, freezing to death, burns and serious injury. Oh, and he can't breathe in without air. Very important.

History: Peter Parker's parents died in a horrific plane crash when he was a child, along with the parents of his best friend Eddie Brock. Living with his Uncle Ben Parker and his wife May, he grew up to be a humble teenager, smart and caring. Due to his economic status and intelligence, the popular kids shunned him. However, he found friends in rich kid Harry Osborne and Gwen Stacey. After an accident on his class field trip, he found himself developing strange powers, those just like the spiders they had learned about. He had been bitten by a genetically-engineered spider that had escaped containment and the bite had given his powers.

With the development of his powers, he decided to cash in on his new talent by entering a wrestling contest. What teenager wouldn't? It was easy money for him and his wanted nothing more than to help support the only family he had. The manager of the event refused to pay him his winning fee and the man ended up getting robbed. Peter let the man go and went on his way, letting the manager deal with his problem. On his way to meet Uncle Ben at the library, he was annoyed when he found out his uncle was not there to pick him up because the police blocked off the street. When he finally got home, he found out those cars were there because his uncle had been shot dead by a carjacker - the same man who he had let go earlier! Enraged he pursued the man in his costume to an abandoned warehouse and shoved him through a window. He wanted to kill the man for taking his uncle from him but remembered his uncles words; "with great power comes great responsibility.” Instead, he caught the man right before he fell to his death with webbing and left him there to be be taken care of by the police.

Afterward, he vowed he would only use his powers to save the innocent. He decided that since the police could not protect his Uncle Ben, he would do so as a vigilante. As Spider-Man he had the freedom of protecting the innocent from muggers and robbers, or even worse things. Things that the police couldn't control or over look. News of this vigilante spread across NYC and newspapers wanted pictures. So why not cash in? Peter became a photographer for the Daily Bugle, selling pictures of himself to help his Aunt pay for the bills. He often wishes he never got these powers, but ends up seeing the good he has done.

Throughout the series he fought many adversaries and succeeded in putting them away behind bars. However when his mentor Dr. Connors accidentally turned himself into the Lizard via injection, he fought him at the zoo in order to change him back. At the same time he had taken pictures of himself fighting the creature and sold them to the Bugle. This causes a rift between him and his friend Eddie Brock and ultimately gets himself kicked out of the research program.

One of the first biggest changes in his life after becoming Spider-Man was the arrival of the symbiote. The creature had attached itself to the shuttle that Jameson's son had flown back and the goo given to Dr. Connors for study. Peter is excited to see the symbiote but is not allowed to after being kicked out of the program. So at night he decided to take a look at it from the skylights at the center, only to find Black Cat trying to steal it. While trying to stop her, the symbiote attaches to his foot and then spreads across his suit. At first Peter didn't know what to think of it, but as he began feeling his abilities increased and obtaining the ability to make his own webbing (which was actually just the symbiote), he decides that maybe the suit isn't so bad. At the same time Chameleon as hired to pose as him and frame him for stealing the symbiote as well as a massive crime spree across New York city. With the help of Black Cat, he eventually clears his name tot he police, but he still has not given up the suit. By this time he feels compelled to keep it, enjoying the way it makes him feel. However this has negative impacts on his personal life. He becomes moody and feels entitled to things, getting into fights with his friends

During one fight in the middle of Time Square against the newly formed Sinister Six, Aunt May is out with her friend right in the thick of it. Seeking shelter in the theater they had just come out of, May has a heart attack and is rushed to the hospital. The fight leaves Peter tired and sore and by the time he arrived home, he believed May was asleep in her room. So not to disturb her, he just retreated to his room to sleep. However the symbiote had plans of it's own and used his body to fight the Sinister Six. Waking up the next morning Peter finds the baddies in jail and the Bugle with pictures he didn't take, but he didn't care. It was what he deserved, right?

That same morning Mary Jane checked up on him as no one had seen him the entire day. She asked him if he knew what happened to his Aunt to which he replied she was in he room sleeping. Mary Jane broke the news that she had a heart attack and didn't survive, leaving Peter feeling incredibly guilty. He had just seen May that prior morning and she seemed fine, and during the fight he saved her and her friend from being squashed by Rhino. He believed the suit made him short sighted and desperately tried to get rid of it. Going to a cathedral, he found out the symbiote was weak against sonic waves and used the church bell to pull it from his body. Unfortunately down below Eddie Brock was brooding about Peter how he wasn't there when Aunt May died and for all the trouble he caused. The symbiote liked his way of thinking and desire for power (to stop Spider-Man) and bonded with him.

Aunt May had no insurance to cover the medical costs and her life insurance barely covered the funeral. The house had been left to him, but it wasn't the same anymore and left nothing but painful memories and guilt. However without anywhere else to go, Peter decided to stay there. At the same time, his once friend Eddie disclosed information leading to the identity of Spider-Man to the Daily Bugle with more than enough “evidence” that Spider-Man was guilty of his crimes. Jameson refused to believe (as well as many others) that Peter was Spider-Man, but announced an award for whoever can catch the wall crawler. Jameson stated that that he must have had something to do with his aunt's death and should be held responsible for all of the his illegal acts as a vigilante. He also claimed that Spider-Man was responsible for bringing out the worst in criminals. Despite this Peter continued saving the day as Spider-Man, hoping to change the people's views of him as well as save Eddie from the symbiote.

Reality Description: 2009 New York City. So basically what reality looks like right now for the lot of us.  However there are some differences, such as there are costumed super villains running around. There’s also some more advanced science which enables these super villains (and heroes to be created). An example of this is the creation of Electro. He was created by falling into a tank full of electric eels in Conner’s lab which were being used in an experiment. Green Goblin was created by a serum created by Osborne. Doc Ock has his metal arms fused to his spine. Things like this are totally plausible in his reality.

Being that it is the Marvel Universe that means there are other super heroes like the Fantastic Four and the X-Men. The former was created through cosmic radiation and the latter created by a natural mutation of genes. However neither group is ever featured in the show. If a player happens to be one of these characters, Spider-Man will know them through reading about them in the paper or some other media, but he does not personally know them yet.

Alien life forms do exist and are featured by the symbiote. That is one example of an alien species that Spider-Man ahas had contact with. In the Marvel Universe there are many more alien species and powerful beings, but they are also never featured in the show.
