AUTHORS FAQ

What can I write?
Any and all fandoms are allowed for this.

What is required for it to fit the 'heroine' requirements?
Your story should focus on a female or female-identified character of any fandom. She should be the focus/hero of the story.  This BB is queer positive and and any character that identifies as female is welcome, as are characters who resist gender binaries but would be comfortable with the label of 'heroine'.

Do they have to be a hero? Like the good guy?
Nope! For our purposes, we're using 'heroine' meaning any female-identified character who is the focus of her own story. Whether she's good, evil, or somewhere in the middle is up to you.

Does that include gender-swapped characters?
No. Characters who are canonically-always male but you wish to write a story with them as always-female would not count.

What's the Minimum Word Count?
Big Whammy: 25K minimum (new for round 4)
Big Bang: 10k minimum
Mini Bang: 5k
Tiny Bang: 1.5K

Am I obligated to stay with the word-level I signed up with?
Nope! You are free to move within the big/mini/tiny word levels up until the final draft submission. Meaning, if you signed up for Big but realize your story is better fit as a mini, you can do a mini. And vice-versa. During the checkpoints, there will be a space for you to say whether you've switched levels, but you won't be required to "declare" a level until you submit your final draft.

Will all size-stories get art?
Yes, that's the plan!

Original? Genres?
Yup, original works are welcome. And whatever genre you want.

Can I do a crossover?
Heck yes!

Can I write with someone?
Yes, you may.

Can I write more then one story?
If you think you can handle it, then yes. The more, the better. :)

ARTISTS FAQ

What is considered for Art?
Artwork is considered in different forms. Graphics, drawing, mixes, vids...

Could I do a podfic?
Sure. If your author is done their story early enough for you to do an audio recording of it, go right ahead!

How do I make a claim?
Claims are done on a first come, first serve basis. We will be putting up a f-locked post and the artists and fanmixers will reply to it with their first, second, and third choices and will be assigned the first fic that is available within those choices.

Will artists get checkpoints?
We will be making sure everyone's on the right track and are able to finish their art/fanmix before the deadline, but these checkpoints will be less formal, as there is no wordcount for a piece of art.

What should my rough draft look like?
It needs to be at least half complete or 50% completed. You do not need to have your fic finished by this time however, you may still work on it and get it beta-read until your final fic and art is due. We just need to be able to reasonably verify that you are going to be able to post on your assigned date.

Can I have an extension?
We will be granting extensions on a case-by-case basis for rough drafts as long as your final fic or art is in by the due date. We would hope, however, that you use the checkpoints and all your available writing time to it's fullest.

Posting Requirements will be added closer to the rough draft date.
