In any case, Xanth is walking the halls. He turns a corner and there someone is - someone tall, someone imposing. He does not recognize the cloak or the figure beneath it, but he recognizes the stride as purposeful.
(And perhaps slightly familiar.)
He steps aside to let the man pass, but Xanth doesn't take his eyes off him. He's just a little wary.]
[Even before Xanth finishes speaking, Riku understands what he's getting at. Anything he uses the journal to transmit will be archived... that's a double-edged sword, he thinks. For one thing, he'll have to watch what he says. But on the other hand, everything everyone -else- has said will be there, too.
Which makes it a good place to start looking for information.
[A lot of Riku's self-righteous fire has gone out of him by this point! Now he's a lot more willing to admit that other people might know a bit more than he does, when it comes to certain things.]
Right.
[He tucks the record away again, straightens up--flips his hood back up to shadow his face once more.]
[Xanth nods once, then turns and heads down the hall.
He honestly can't remember what he was doing or where he was going, but he needs time to sort his thoughts. Riku is here, but like Kairi, he doesn't remember Xanth's name, face, or even the time Xanth punched him square in the nose.
That seems like it would be a hard thing to forget.
But Xanth reminds himself that Riku did not forget; this Riku is someone else entirely. He knows nothing of their rivalry and nothing of Xanth's feelings for Kairi.
Or is it the either way around?

Riku glances back up to Xanth with a nod.]
I'll keep that in mind.

It's a nice change of pace, how Riku is taking Xanth's advice as if he were an equal, but it's also strange.]
