Saturday, Tokyo City Japan Momoko's World

Aug 15, 2015 18:14

Like most good Japanese, Momoko had gone home for Bon. Friday had been spent at the cemetery tending to the graves of relatives and then attending the local bon odori in the evening.

Saturday, however, was another story. Or rather lots of stories, because on Saturday our heroine had permission to return to Tokyo City for Comiket!

COMIKET!!!!!

Karla had no real interest in comic books, be they Western style or manga. But Karla did love Japan, Momoko, and Momoko's parents, so she was there, in costume, with Kayla in arms.

Surely there was some comic book about doctors? She was from that, obviously. And Kayla was in a little pink, ruffly dress. World's tiniest candy striper! The toddler wasn't thrilled with her little white cardigan, it was pushing on her tiny wing-nubs. But Karla had little fruit lollipops to give out that also kept Kayla quiet.

"Kiss kiss!" she called when she spotted Momoko, both blondes waving at her old friend. "Momoko! We're here!"

Tons of them were about doctors, no worries.

"KAAARLAAAA!!!" Momoko pushed past a couple of mecha cosplayers and a Magical Dark Witch Elf to glomp her friend. "Ah!!! You did it! You came in cosplay!! You brought Kayla too!! Hi little one!!!!!"

"Well, of course I did!" Karla said, sliding Kayla over to her hip so she could give Momoko a giant hug. "All good doctors need an adorable candy striper!"

"You would make a terrible doctor," Momoko giggled into the hug and then reached a finger out to tap Kayla's nose. "I've met your bedside manner!"

"So welcome to Comiket! I'm thinking a quick tour and some costume spotting? Ah! Are you going to be able to stay long enough to come see my parents after? They will die if they find out they missed you."

Priestly didn't have a costume. Yet. He probably would have several before the day was out, though.

"They've gotta have those mind reading cat ears around here, right? Or one of those footie pajama red panda onesies?"

"The moving cat ears?" Momoko was going to glomp you from behind, watch out! "Hall B aisle 17 booth 42. And they're totally not moving fast so you have plenty of time to look around. Why do you want a onsie?"

"Mostly to confuse Stevesie," Priestly admitted. "Heya, Momo. Look, no more crutches!"

"AH!!!!" Momoko had glomped him without even thinking about it, but... She looked him up and down. "YOU'RE RIGHT!!!! When? Did you celebrate?"

Right, like Dinah would dare show up without a costume. God knew what Momoko would dress her as if she didn't already have one. So she was got up like some kind of crusader. Or maybe a knight? Either way, she got to carry a sword.

But if it got too hot or too heavy to carry, she was ditching the armor.

"Okay, so.... what first?"

Momoko was totally SAD at you Dinah. SAD. She'd had plans!! CUTE SURPRISE PLANS!!

Still, the armor was totally cool, too. Even if it made hugging Dinah a little hard. "If this is real? Then the first stop is the Photo Hall so you can get pictures over with."

That was the problem with surprises! Sometimes people decided to make plans when there didn't seem to be any already!

"Parts of it?" Dinah admitted, laughing and hugging her back. "I didn't make it though, don't you have to be the designer or maker in order for there to be pictures? You look totally adorable, by the way."

Please. Momoko just liked dressing people up. OOOH! Maybe the outfit would fit Priestly?

"Not at all. Being a fan is being a fan. Lots of people will just be wearing hats or stuff they bought." Momoko did a turn, ending in her character's traditional salute pose. "High school idol Kurisumasu-chan! Spreading the happiness of Christmas through the present of song!"
