Turning twenty was a big deal in Japan. It meant that a person was no longer treated as a child in criminal proceedings, they could vote, purchase tobacco and alcohol, get married, etc. Basically it was the moment when they became the productive member of society they were always mean to be. Karla cleered wildly, then finished her drink before climbing up on the stage. "Okay, okay, my turn," she said, flipping through the book.

She began singing the first one she knew. Hopefully her friends would like it!
