Michael was listening to Tom Waits last night, who I'm not very familiar with. The nonsensical weirdness of the music got me thinking about Leonard Cohen, so I put on the album of his that I used to listen to while going to sleep when I was in elementary school. FWIW, I wrote the Seeming and Goblin contracts and the material on Changeling society. The later owes a lot to my knowledge of both the transsexual and otherkin subcultures - the first from knowing a whole lot of trannys, the second from being part of it.

That makes a great deal of sense. It's nice to see insight into real communities making it into a fantasy setting, and I can see the parallels, now that I think of it. People who are far from mainstream and defined as "other", who can be wounded and self-protective but have forged a very strong sense of identity and have developed a lexicon of words and practices.

That's phrased poorly. But I like the book. Goblin contracts are terrible in their repercussions!
