It came to my attention about a week ago that I can graduate in December if I can manage to pull off a field project this fall (which I failed to do over the summer). I want to do a project that means something, that isn't just rehashing something someone did two years ago. Which is why I need the input from one of the more experienced professors. When it comes to actually advising on the project, the new guy should be fine. His not knowing what a flake I am should also be helpful.
After asking around today, I've made contact with one of the college deans, to see if they can help any. The fact that this is the only thing standing between me and graduation seems to carry some weight.

Because he's new, is it possible he'll have ideas that others might not think about? Sometimes, being too experienced gets you too locked in.
